April, May and June were fully focused on fibre tops here at JAT, starting with Wonderwool, which is the show where we meet most spinners, through our prelaunch of the new Appledore shades as tops, and ending with our glorious tops land display at the Mill Open Weekend. And, best of all, our first-ever Spinalong!

Sonja and I had the best time hosting it – and we loved how many spinners joined us on the Slack channels and in the Zoom chats! There were oodles of inspiration to be had, and so many generous tips and tricks shared with each other. We certainly learned a ton!

I can't even begin to tell you how many fabulous spinning projects we saw – from rainbow yarns spun on gorgeous spindles to sweater quantities, from delightful blends of broken tops to sleek, nuanced colours, the spinalong was testament to how much you can do with fibre and wheel (or spindle!)

We've selected a few from the Slack channel to show you on the blog, and if they get your spinning juices flowing, don't worry - we'll be bringing the spinalong back next year! Head over to jarbon.com for some serious spinning inspiration - don't say I didn't warn you!

We are so excited that the wonderful Andrea and Madeleine of and will be joining us for a Q&A session for the Virtual Mill Open Weekend this year! In our pre-recorded session, we sat down with Andrea and Madeleine of Fruity Knitting to learn how they bring their wonderful podcast to life, what their retreats entail and their exciting foray into creating their first yarn range – spun by us!

It is no surprise that Fruity Knitting is one of the most beloved craft podcasts out there, as Andrea and Madeleine’s dedication and passion for their subject matter is unmistakable. They’ve very kindly agreed to let us pick their brains about how they find such wonderful guests and bring their podcast to life.

In this session we've also talked to Fruity Knitting about where they get their inspiration, what it is like at one of their brilliant retreats and how they’ve found the process of designing yarn from selecting the colour palette all the way through to the excitement of seeing designers creating with the finished yarn.

Tickets for the Virtual Mill Open Weekend are now available – all of our talks and workshops are FREE! Sign up now over on jarbon.com or head over to the link in our profile to get your 🎟️

The wonderful Virginia Sattler-Reimer (), one of our designer pals, is joining us for the Virtual Mill Open Weekend this year, yay! We're so excited to be sitting down with her to learn how she creates so many divine colourwork patterns and just where her inspiration comes from!

In this casual conversation, Virginia will share her tips for training your eye to notice colour and colour combinations in new ways that inspire you. She will also give us a few tips on how to bring more colourwork to our knitting – can't wait to hear what she'll share!

Lastly, we will look at Virginia’s design process and chat about favourite projects she has created with John Arbon Textiles yarns. And, of course, you'll get a chance to ask her anything you fancy too!

We're thrilled to welcome Grace of to our Virtual Mill Open Weekend after having her at the in-person event just a couple of weeks ago! We all love Grace's work and shop, and were so in love with her embroidery samples she brought for the MOW.

For our VMOW 2026, Grace teaches an introductory workshop to wool embroidery! She will talk you through the basic materials and tools, plus demonstrate some easy stitches to get you started. She’ll also talk about transferring designs, fabric to use and different types of wool threads, plus we’ll look at some of her favourite resources, kits and books.
