We’ve always believed that strong local businesses create stronger local communities. Over the last nine years we’ve tried to buy locally where we can, recruit locally and support organisations across South Tyneside and beyond.
It’s nice to know those decisions have also led to new partnerships and opportunities for us.
Building better businesses and a stronger local economy shouldn’t be competing objectives they reinforce each other.
The South Tyneside Pledge is delivering real results for our borough
An independent evaluation shows it is now generating over £10 million a year for the local economy, with around 450 organisations working together to support local people, businesses and communities.
Since launching, the Pledge is helping to:
✅ Support jobs, apprenticeships and work experience
✅ Strengthen local supply chains and keep spending in the borough
✅ Create new opportunities for businesses and charities
✅ Bring organisations together to share ideas and build partnerships
It’s about making sure South Tyneside grows in a way that benefits everyone.
