BNI Cookson We meet every Friday, 7:00–8:30am What is BNI Cookson? In the 2015-16 term its members shared £1.1m and in the 2016-17 term the members generated over £1.3m.

BNI Cookson is a friendly business networking and referral group based in South Shields, helping businesses across South Tyneside and the North East build relationships, generate referrals and grow. BNI Cookson is a business referral networking group based in South Tyneside that began in 2005, it has generated record breaking amounts of money for its members since it began. BNI only allows one professional or trade category per chapter, that means for example if you join the chapter as an accountant, you will remain the sole accountant for that chapter. BNI Cookson is part of the larger BNI Northumbria which has 9 chapters as of 2017 and BNI Northumbria is part of the larger BNI UK, which is part of the BNI International. BNI was founded by Dr Ivan Misner over 30 years ago in America and now has chapters in over 70 countries worldwide. What can BNI do for your business? Belonging to BNI is like having dozens of sales people working for you because all the other members carry copies of your card with them. When they meet someone new that could use your products or services they hand out your card and personally recommend your services.

🍪 What actually happens at a BNI Cookson meeting?

If you’ve never been to a networking meeting before, you might not know quite what to expect.

At Cookson, Friday mornings are about getting to know other local business owners, learning about their businesses, building relationships and finding ways we can help one another.

There are presentations, referrals, recommendations and plenty of conversations, but we’re a pretty friendly bunch too!

You don’t need to be a confident networker and you certainly don’t need to arrive knowing everybody. That’s what visiting is for.

Meet Neil Robinson from North East Architectural Services, who represents Architectural Services at BNI Cookson.

Neil started North East Architectural Services in 2018, after spending 20 years working at Nicholson Nairn Architects in Whickham.

Going out on his own has allowed Neil to build his own business while giving him more time for his family — and his other passion, property development.

🏠 Neil's perfect referral?

Families looking to create more space in their home with an extension or loft conversion. He also works on commercial-to-residential projects, converting commercial properties into apartments.

When he's not helping clients with their projects, Neil doesn't exactly put the tools down — you'll often find him renovating properties, spending time with his family and dogs, or enjoying a well-earned holiday. 🐕✈️

👋 Meet Steve Summerbell-Myers, owner of Paper Voice and BNI Cookson's Web Designer.

Steve helps businesses across the North East and beyond with web design, graphic design, branding and SEO, from creating completely new websites and brands to helping established businesses improve what they already have.

He founded Paper Voice in 2014 and has been part of BNI Cookson for over a decade.
