⭐️ I have lots of poorly clients at the moment... as the various bugs and colds start to do the rounds, especially with the children back at school a few weeks… 🤧
⭐️We all dread the coughs, colds and bugs! It can be exhausting caring for a poorly little one, especially if you become unwell yourself.
⭐️If your little one is poorly in the night you absolutely need to ensure
they are ok, but it is equally important that they get as much restorative sleep as possible.
⭐️My advice is to ensure they are hydrated, comfortable and give them any medication they might need. Give them cuddles and comfort and try to encourage them to go back to sleep in their own sleep space. If you are very
concerned, stay with them in their bedroom.
⭐️If illness has caused a sleep regression in your house, just get in touch! ☺️

⭐️Super important in this hot weather… please read! ☀️☀️☀️

***ATTENTION ALL PARENTS***
Sadly some parents are unknowingly putting their babies at risk by covering pushchairs and car seats with a blanket or muslin cloth to shade them from the sun.

A study has shown that by covering a pram in the heat at 22° celcius for 30 minutes makes inside the pram as hot as 34° celcius and after an hour temperatures can reach 37 degrees Celsius. Babies exposed to these temperatures, especially under 1's can result in fatality.

By covering a baby's pram or car seat with a blanket or cloth can cause their exhaled co2 to get trapped in the blanket and therefore potentially rebreathing their exhaled co2 . This results in lower oxygen levels and can potentially cause positional asphyxiation.

There's many safe alternatives for keeping your babies safe and in shade from the sun , you can use a parasol or a protector that covers the complete pushchair. If you are baby wearing remember to treat the sling as a layer of clothing and dress your baby accordingly. You could then carry a parasol for shade.

⭐️This week finally looks HOT again making for potentially tricky bedtimes across the UK ☀️☀️☀️
⭐️Here's a few tips for dealing with the temperature rise!
⭐️Prepare in the day time. Keep the room cool and windows open if it lets in a cool breeze.
⭐️Keep hydrated in the day time. Offer children watery fruit snacks as well as water.
⭐️Make use of paddling pools, water sprays and cans and hoses. Good fun and a great way to cool down. Offer a cool/lukewarm bath pre bedtime.
⭐️Consider investing in a fan. This will help circulate the air and can double up as white noise for younger babies.
⭐️Dress in cotton layers and choose appropriate clothing for the temperature.
⭐️If it's really too hot at bedtime, take a break in a cooler room and repeat the last few steps of the bedtime routine again. ☀️💛

⭐️ Beverley's support and advice has been invaluable for us. The sleep plan was personalised to us as a family and Beverley continued to address any concerns we had along the way.
⭐️We were so amazed to see our 13-month-old sleep through the night from the second night as well as have 2 full naps during the day.
⭐️Prior to seeking help from Beverley we had tried a few strategies but our child was still waking up every 2 hours often staying up for quite a few hours overnight.
⭐️Beverley's approach is holistic and structured. She gave us the confidence to drop milk feeds which in fact helped improve our son's sleep and his appetite for solids.

⭐️CLOCK CHANGE ⏰
⭐️Spring is finally in the air, thank goodness, we all really need some sunshine! ☀️ But with young children the clocks going forward is rarely welcome! Here's how to help your little ones adjust to the change this weekend!
☀️Here's my #1 clock change tip: Split the difference...
⭐️Basically, I don't think it works to either ignore the time difference completely at bedtime OR to change the bedtime by a full hour. This is too hard on your child's internal clock and can make for cranky babies who are either being put to bed much earlier than normal or much later.
⭐️But I've discovered that half an hour is manageable. So, after you've set your clocks forward, move all nap times and bedtimes forward 30 minutes.
⭐️This means that if your baby went down for a nap at 11am BEFORE the time change, nap time should be 11.30am.
⭐️Same thing for afternoon naps and bedtime. If your child usually goes to bed for the night at 7.00pm, bedtime should be 7.30pm. This should only take a few days to adjust. Try this until Wednesday, and by Thursday you should be able to move all nap times and bedtimes to their regularly scheduled times.
⭐️It may take children and babies a bit more time to fall asleep, this is normal, since the time is different and so initially they won't be as tired. It usually takes about a week for children and babies to completely adjust to the new time, for some children it can take up to a month.
⭐️Be patient, calm and consistent and it will happen... and Spring is finally on its way!!! 🌿☀️💛

⭐️The best quality, deep restorative sleep takes place in the cot at home.
⭐️Try to honour as many naps as you can in the cot at home and at the very least aim for 1 a day! The first nap is usually the easiest so I would start there and then maybe enjoy a walk and some well needed fresh air and a motion nap later in the day! ☀️

⭐️MOVING TO THE 'BIG BOY/GIRL BED'🛏
⭐️One the most common questions I am asked is, when should we move him/her into a big bed? And my favourite answer is usually...later!
⭐️Firstly, make sure everything else is in place before making the switch.
Establish a good bedtime routine and teach them independent sleep skills as the switch will be much easier if you've got a good solid sleeper on your hands.
⭐️I would say that unless your little one is climbing out of the cot and
potentially hurting themselves, I would keep them in the cot until at
least 2.5, my own daughters were closer to 3.5!
⭐️Once your little one is slightly older, they'll be able to better understand the responsibility that comes with the big bed! 😊

🎄I can't believe it's just 1 week until Christmas! I've got just an hour and a half before the final school pick up of this term so this is likely to be my last quiet cuppa for the next 2 weeks...! 😩
🎄I really wanted to take the opportunity to THANK every single one of you for supporting me this year and for helping me to continue to build a business that I really LOVE! ❤️

⭐️FESTIVE FOOD TIPS! 🎄
⭐️What your child eats and drinks can influence their sleep during the
Christmas break. They will be tempted by lots of sugary treats 🍫🍬and drinks 🥤so keep an eye on sugar levels, especially at dinner time!
⭐️The good news is that turkey is a sleep inducing food so enjoy those turkey left overs as a pre bedtime snack! 🎅🏻🎄❄️☺️
