Imagine trying to concentrate while there’s someone constantly talking next to you.
That’s how much extra print noise you get from an Epson SC-T3100 when compared to the near-silent “swoosh” of the Canon imagePROGRAF TM-240. Recent comparisons between the Epson SC-T5700D and the Canon imagePROGRAF TX-3200 showed that the Canon is the superior machine in many ways.
Not only is the TX-3200 slightly faster than the Epson, but there are many other benefits that are sure to make a big difference. 🖨

OK! Incredible definition and colour, thin crisp lines and curves…got it! How about ease of use, versatility, and sustainability?

• The Epson SC-T5700D is a full 25cms wider than the TX-3200, so it needs far more space to accommodate it.

• The Canon machine can automatically recognise the paper type, weight, and size as it’s loaded. With the SC-T5700D, the operator needs to enter that information manually, taking up valuable time. Alternatively, you could use the printed barcode method, but this wastes ink, media, and time.

• The TX-3200 will estimate the remaining media when loaded and give you a visual indication of how much you have left, numerically and digitally. A very useful tool, especially when loading partly used rolls.

• Extra consumables are needed to print edge-to-edge (borderless) on the Epson, even then, it can only do so on standard sized media. The Canon can print edge-to-edge on standard and custom size rolls, without buying extra consumables.

• The TX-3200 has been awarded the highly coveted EPEAT Gold standard due to it’s extremely low environmental impact. The Epson is not registered.

So there you have it. Compact size, superior colour and precision, lower cost of ownership, easier to use, highly versatile, and great for the environment. What
more could you need?

Last week, Canon UK proudly launched two new imagePROGRAF models, the TX-3200 and TX-4200 👀

Building upon the technology of the highly successful TX-3100 and TX-4100, the new models can create a more vivid red in CAD and poster creation, thanks to the new Magenta TD ink. But that’s not all…🖨

The fully automated media loading is much faster than the previous incarnations, and the print speed has been increased with no loss of quality, in fact, it’s even better than before! In addition to all this, the power consumption is now lower than ever.

The TX-3200 comes with an incredible 970ml of free ink and the TX-4200 comes with 1650ml, so you can produce stacks of free prints on either machine, straight from the box. Both are packed full of top-level security features, and thanks to the
implementation of full cardboard packaging, they have both been awarded the Epeat Gold standard. A magnificent achievement, as Epeat are the Premier Global Ecolabel for electronics and technology products.

“Simply epic!”

That’s what Adam Karnacz of First Man Photography had to say about his panoramic print from the new Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-4600.

Joined by his friend and fellow photographer, Verity Milligan, our guests met with Ben, Sara, and Seb from Canon at our showroom to print one of Adam’s beautiful photos of a sunrise over his favourite mountain. The image could have been printed on the short edge of the media, but it was agreed that they should go for maximum impact and print on the long edge, thus creating a 3.5 metre masterpiece. As the 44” wide print emerged, Adam was excited to see some finer details and additional elements that he hadn’t seen on his original digital file.

If you are unsure if you should invest in a Canon TX-3100 MFP or the HP T2600 MFP, here are a few nuggets of information you may find interesting.

Scanning
When scanning, the HP uses a single light source that accentuates these faults, archived images and reprints containing lines and shadows that aren’t on the original, look poor and could become confusing and hard to decipher. The Canon uses dual light sources to eliminate shadows caused by creases and folds, producing pristine scans every time

Copying
When scanning to a printed copy, the Canon TX-3100 MFP will start to print a few seconds after the scan has started, the entire process takes about 30 seconds from start to finish. The HP scans the image first, then takes time to process it before the printing starts. The whole scan to copy process takes around five times longer than the Canon.

Loading
HP’s media loading process is traditional. You will need to manually feed it into the printer, once it’s loaded, you will have to identify the media type and length via the operation panel. This can be very hit-and-miss if you are loading a partly used roll and have to guess the length and paper type.
Paper feeding on the Canon is a breeze, it’s all automatic. Just place the roll on load mechanism, flick a switch, and walk away. The printer will feed the media, identify the type and weight, and estimate how much is on the roll. No other interaction necessary.

As you can see, this Canon imagePROGRAF MFP solution is fast, easy to use, and highly accurate in its performance.

To ensure that you get perfect prints, first time, every time, the Canon imagePROGRAF design team have certainly covered every angle.
Here are just a few examples of how that magic happens.

As the printhead zips across the surface of the media, it is ejecting ink at roughly 30 million drops per second, and even at this incredible speed, every single drop
is accounted for. If one drop fails to eject, the printer will immediately use a different nozzle to compensate for it, so that every detail of the hard work is present on the paper.

The media roll is secured on the spindle by the locking end caps, to ensure that the paper cannot move from side-to-side or spin independently as it’s feeding through the paper path. The printer will then automatically make sure that the media isn’t skewed or crooked as it feeds. At the same time, the media is kept absolutely flat thanks to the strong but silent vacuum that draws it directly against the printing platform.

Stability matters, you want every drop of ink to be placed where it should be. Under the shell, a steel unibody construction prevents the printer from oscillating or rocking as the printhead speeds back and forth over the media.

All of this and more ensures that you receive pinpoint accuracy of the ink placement, resulting in the very best quality output possible. Isn’t that cool?
