"We’ve got a problem with ASB, but the police keep telling us they need evidence.”

That was the challenge a Furniture Village manager was facing.

Groups of youths were repeatedly attending the store, causing disruption, intimidating staff and customers, and creating an uncomfortable environment.

The first step was simple:

Put a security operative on the front door.

And it worked.

A visible, professional security presence immediately acted as a deterrent. People who may have previously walked into the store looking to cause problems now knew they were being watched.

But here’s the important part…

Security alone doesn't solve recurring ASB. Evidence does.

If ASB becomes a recurring issue, the police need to understand the course of conduct what happened, when it happened, how often it happened and whether there is a pattern.

That’s where Alpha Security takes a different approach.

Our retail security operatives use:

📹 Body-worn cameras (BWC) to capture incidents and provide valuable evidence.

📱 Digital reporting systems to record the exact time, date, location and details of incidents.

🚨 Nerotec technology providing proactive support, including BOLO alerts and rapid uploading of BWC footage.

👮 A proactive security presence that doesn't simply stand at the door — our operatives identify potential issues before they escalate.

The result?

Instead of a manager saying:

“These youths keep coming back.”

You have a documented history showing:

Who → What → When → Where → How often.

That information can then help build the evidence required when working with the police and other agencies to address persistent ASB, including where appropriate, supporting action such as a dispersal order.

The lesson for retail managers is simple:

Don't just react to ASB. Start building the evidence from day one.

A security guard can deter.

A security operative with the right technology can deter, document and provide evidence.

That’s the difference.

Alpha Security proactive retail security, backed by technology.

Last event of the summer 🌤️🎉

And just like that… we wrap up our final event of the season.

What a year it’s been — packed venues, new partnerships, long nights, big wins, and a team that showed up every single time. From the first booking in spring to the last shift this weekend, the consistency, professionalism and energy has been unreal.

Huge appreciation to everyone we’ve worked with across the summer. Every event, every client, every team member played a part in making this our strongest year yet.

Now we reset, recharge, and get ready for an even bigger winter season ahead 💪🔥

Onwards.

You don’t always need MORE security.

You need smarter security.

A construction site with 2 guards sounds secure.

But what if you could get more coverage for less?

Instead of:

❌ 2 security officers
❌ 2 wages
❌ Limited physical coverage

Consider:

✅ 1 security officer
✅ 2 strategically positioned E-Guards
✅ 24/7 visual deterrence
✅ Wider site coverage
✅ Lower overall security costs

The guard provides the human presence.

The E-Guards extend the eyes and deterrence across the site.

One person + technology can often do the job of a much larger security setup.

The goal isn't to spend more on security.

It's to get more security for every £ you spend.

That's the difference between buying security and designing security.

Construction theft in 2025 didn’t just rise, 𝗶𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗱.

UK sites lost over £1 billion to theft last year.
More than 11,000 incidents were reported.
Most happened between 22:00 and 04:00 when sites were empty.

And the impact wasn’t just missing tools.
It was delayed programmes, lost plant, insurance hikes, and weeks of disruption.

Here’s the truth every construction director already knows:

One theft can cost more than your entire security contract.

That’s why more sites are moving to a layered model:

E‑Guards + Manned Security
E‑Guards detect.
They pick up movement fast, send alerts instantly, and cover blind spots that humans can’t watch 24/7.

Manned security responds.
They lock down access, protect materials, challenge intruders, and keep the programme safe.

Together, they stop the two biggest risks:

Overnight theft

Programme disruption

A £2/hour “cheap” guard won’t stop organised crime.
A single missing patrol won’t protect £200k of plant.
A weak supplier won’t keep your programme on track.

Layered security does.

If you’re running construction projects in 2025, the question isn’t:

“What’s the hourly rate?”

It’s:

“What’s the cost if security fails?”

Because the cheapest quote can become the most expensive decision you make on a live site.

It’s Tuesday morning.
I’m on a Teams call for a quarterly KPI meeting with a project manager (local construction company).

We go through the usual updates site progress, access control, reports, incidents.

Everything looks fine.
Then he stops and says:

“We picked the cheapest security quote on another job. It ended up costing us more than anything else.”

I ask him what went wrong.

He explains:

Guards didn’t show up

No supervision

Weak reporting

Missed patrols

Tools went missing

The site team spent hours chasing the security company

The project director had to step in

Then he says something I hear a lot:

“The cheapest guard became the most expensive person we hired.”

And he’s right.

In construction, a small saving on hourly rate can turn into a big loss.
A £2 cheaper guard can create £20,000 worth of delays, theft, and wasted time.

The real cost isn’t the invoice.
It’s the disruption.

So I asked him the same question I ask every project manager and construction director:

“What matters more to you than the hourly rate?”

He answered fast:

Reliability

Good supervision

Clear reporting

Accountability

Protecting the programme

Protecting the team

Protecting the materials

Security is not just a price.
It’s a risk decision.

And the cheapest quote?
It can become the most expensive mistake.
