After hearing information on the news and now "This Morning" about Banning Gel Polish I just want to make this information clear to everyone....

Firstly highlighting this information to the general public by using the word "Banning Gel Polish" in my eyes is very harsh and damaging to us professionals and also our businesses without fully explaining the full context first ....

So this is where I will explain it to you and I won't be using AI to do it.

What this is all about is an ingredient in gel polishes called Teimethylbenzoyl diphenyl phosphine oxide TPO for short and it is a chemical ingredient(Photoinitiator molecule in scientific terms 😆)that acts as absorbing the UV or LED light energy to convert the liquid gel polish into a hard solid coating and help in the process of drying it.

This chemical has been studied in long term and found that there is a link between fertility damage in animals and I am NOT saying humans so out of safety for humans this chemical is now being banned but the amount of TPO used in nail products is over a thousands times less than the amount which could have any negative effect and these products are only applied to the nail so the potential for the ingredient to be absorbed into our bodies is very very small.

I wish to clarify that ALL my Gel Polishes I use are all TPO free and that I take extra care applying the products used for my Gel Polish treatments this is why I NEVER rush my visits to you or treatment time as part of the cost to you should include the care....

When having an Gel Polish treatment PLEASE use a professional to apply it and try not to do this yourself as care needs to be noted NOT to get any Gel Polish on your skin before it gets set in the light source and also PLEASE choose your nail professional wisely....

The past few weeks I've made myself have some time to think about a few things in my life and one of them has been my business....The past nearly 12months have been extremely hard and life changing and a struggle behind closed doors but I'm now finally getting some professional support for this part of my life.

I have been in the beauty therapy/nail technician profession for 32 years so i guess you can say im "old school" at it 😆.
I take proud in my work and customer service and have great respect and appreciation for you as my client be it past or present 🫂❤️.

But the reason for this post is to say I've thought hard about this, but I need to increase my prices and this is something that all of us in this profession find hard to tackle and mention....

I should really evaluate this part of my business every year but I stupidly put it off when I know deep down I shouldn't as this isn't my hobby but my income....and unfortunately everything else in life has had price increases for all of us.

I've had time to look over other people's prices in the industry and I'm not going to big myself up here but my prices aren't really on par especially with what I provide with my time of my services (which is always longer than they should be 😆)saving you as my client the time of going out to a salon,paying to park,using your fuel when I can save you all this at your own convenient time by visiting you at home and there are a few added extras that I do in some of my treatments that you may not realise but I never charge for as an add on,when other salons,mobile therapists definatly do....

So I wanted to let you know in advance that from the 1st September 2026 there will be a slight increase to my treatments....and I want to say I'm forever grateful for all your continuous support and custom to my now little mobile beauty therapy business(Good Looks Beauty) which I've been trading under for nearly 25 years 🫂❤️ ###x
