🏗️ PROJECT REVISIT | CARE HOME DEVELOPMENT

A visit back to a project we completed over six months ago to carry out some programming modifications for the client, ahead of residents moving into the development.

Last year, ASG Integrated Systems worked alongside Shaw Contracts Management to deliver the security and life safety systems throughout this new care home development.

Our installation included:

🔥 Fire Detection & Alarm System

🗣️ Emergency Voice Communication System (EVCS)

🔐 Access Control – 32 controlled doors with centralised management, incorporating keypad and fob/card access

📹 Video Door Entry System – incorporating video calling with concierge and nurse station call functionality

🔔 Intercall Touch Nurse Call System – incorporating over 200 call units and ancillary devices, together with IP touchscreen displays throughout the development

It’s always great to return to a completed project and look back at what was achieved.

Projects of this scale certainly come with their fair share of pressure, challenges along the way, but seeing the finished development and all the systems fully operational makes it worthwhile.

TEAM BUILDING 💪🌊🍻

Last week, a number of our engineers swapped the tools for wetsuits and headed to the Lake District for a weekend of team building!

First stop was canyoning in Eskdale — climbing waterfalls, scrambling through the gorge, jumping from the rocks and plunging into some very fresh water! 💦 Safe to say there were plenty of laughs along the way.

After surviving the canyon, we headed over to Bowness-on-Windermere for some well-earned food and a few refreshments to cleanse the palate… 🍺😄

A brilliant weekend, plenty of laughs and a great opportunity to spend some time together away from the day-to-day.

Great teams aren’t just built at work. 👊

This week, three of our engineers spent time at BRE Science Park, carrying out fire detection and alarm testing using a range of testing equipment and procedures.

🏗️ BRE Science Park is home to world-class testing facilities and demonstrations of innovative building systems, and is also where EN54 and LPCB product certification is achieved – making it an ideal environment for real-world and comparative testing.

🤝 It was a pleasure to assist DetectorTesters with the testing, working collaboratively to compare their traditional SOLO 330/461 and latest XTR2 solutions, as well as benchmarking DetectorTesters equipment against alternative brands currently used within the industry.

📱 The focus was on efficiency when testing and clearing devices, reducing repeat activations, and improving engineer workflow during routine maintenance activities.

📊 As part of the process, we also reviewed digital test logging and asset management using the DT Connect app, pulse unit integration, and app-only workflows, benchmarked against our traditional spreadsheet-based reporting methods.

🏢 Alongside the testing, our engineers were also given a tour of the DetectorTesters head office, gaining valuable insight into product development, innovation, and the engineering that goes into the equipment used on site every day.

🚀 The exercise provided valuable insight into how modern testing equipment and digital reporting can improve efficiency, accuracy, and traceability across complex fire alarm systems.

🔥 VESDA Aspirating Smoke Detection Installed 🔥

We’ve recently completed a VESDA ASD installation within a mechanical plant room.

Due to restricted access from fixed machinery and plant equipment ⚙️, the aspirating system was carefully designed using 4no. ASD detectors and 15no. sample pipe networks to deliver reliable, very early smoke detection throughout the space.

The control panel and detection equipment were positioned in accessible locations 🛠️, ensuring safe and efficient future testing and maintenance.
