Last week, I attended the screening of ‘After the Rain’ at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London, part of . Directed by the talented Sarah McCarthy , whose films have premiered at festivals like Telluride, TIFF, and DOC NYC.🎥✨

The Oscar-contending documentary follows the healing process of Ukrainian children saved from forced deportation into Russia, focusing on their recovery at an animal therapy retreat in Estonia. The filming was deeply moving, demonstrating extraordinary care and sensitivity in respecting the children’s vulnerabilities while they come to terms with their own experiences.

A Q&A with Sarah followed, and it was an absolute honour to meet her. Her film ‘Anastasia’ (2023) was shortlisted for the 2023 Academy Awards, and she has brought powerful stories from Russia, India, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, the Philippines, the UK and the US to millions of people across 120+ countries.

The International Film Festival Women and the World (IFFWW) highlights women’s roles in military conflicts, sparking dialogue and raising awareness through cinema.

An emotional evening and a testament to the healing power of storytelling. 🌍✨

You can watch the Documentary followed by Q&A, 16th of December at Bertha DocHouse, Curzon Bloomsbury.

I had the pleasure of attending the live ‘UK Election 2024 - Business Debate’ hosted by Bloomberg, featuring Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch (Secretary of State for Business and Trade) and Jonathan Reynolds (Shadow Secretary of State for Business and Trade).

Last week I had the privilege of representing the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) at The London Assembly where I contributed to a panel session addressing the significant impact of late payments on small firms.

Late payments pose a substantial threat to tens of thousands of businesses, jeopardizing their daily operations and long-term sustainability. Furthermore, the emotional toll and worry induced by late payments can have profound mental health implications, impacting the well-being of both business owners and their employees with possible long-lasting consequences.

Previous FSB research revealed that timely payments, consistent with standards in comparable countries, could prevent 50,000 business closures annually. Gain comprehensive insights from FSB's 'Time is Money' report to fully understand the implications.

Invited guests comprised Howard Dawber (Deputy Mayor for Business, GLA), Alex Conway (Assistant Director, Economic Development and Programmes, GLA), Abdul R Shiil (Co-Founder and Director, Sahan Cares), Liz Barclay (Small Business Commissioner, Office of the Small Business Commissioner), and Kate Dearden (Head of Research, Policy and External Relations, Community Union). Marina Ahmad AM (Member of the Committee) chaired the meeting.

The Assembly serves as a central force in addressing the critical issues impacting Londoners. We extend our sincere gratitude for inviting the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) to participate. Your thoughtful consideration and unwavering commitment are invaluable and greatly appreciated.

What captivates me about these awards is the commitment to acknowledging the extraordinary achievements of exceptional women, especially those whose contributions often would fly under the radar and remain unrecognised. It's a night filled with empowerment and inspiration ❤️

I had the pleasure of attending alongside my dear friend Olga Balakleets special guests and friends.

Next year’s Awards Ceremony is set to take place on the 22nd of March 2024. Find all the details on their website Inspiration Awards for Women ✨
