"While Sika is not deployed routinely and is only used to identify where further investigation is warranted (and never to condemn trees), her presence reflects the consultancy’s ethos: blending traditional arboricultural practice with innovative approaches to improve understanding of trees. She occasionally assists with publicly accessible woodland or estate surveys, particularly where conditions make visual inspection more difficult, such as scenting beneath ivy or among dense epicormic growth."

Urban environments can be up to 5 °C warmer than their suburban counterparts, so a species tolerance is an important consideration when planting trees in a new urban landscape.

It is interesting to see some really large specimens worked into the landscape design plan for Bradford's pedestrian area renovation. Planting this size of tree will have an immediate visual impact on the surrounding landscape but requires effort to ensure the trees establish. For example, trees this size need approximately 50 liters from May-October, regularly applied (once or twice a week, weather depending) to help them grow new roots after transplantation.

The article says that 20 different species have been planted in the park nearby too, a diverse mix, hopefully one which will help Bradford's canopy cover remain resilient in the face of a warmer and wetter climate.

R is for regrading - the raising or lowering of a soil profile (i.e. the level of the land) from its original grade. This is typically done to make land more level for development; this type of construction activity may have an impact on trees in the vicinity.
