In my late 20's I worked in a small furniture making firm run by two very competent industrial designers, and from them I learned to look at things and think in a different way about design, furniture, furniture making and our environment. Here is when I realized that I had an obsessive passion for working with my hands and with any materials that I could come across, especially wood. The furnitur
e I design is the result of my critical eye that was imposed by the people I worked for, the people that taught me and those who gave me the chance to create bespoke pieces for them. I have a fastidious eye for perfection and I think beautiful pieces can be made perfectly functional. I like to think that the ones I design and make are here to stand the test of time. I show in every piece a standard of work that reflects the way I do things and think. In my student years I learned the basic skills for which I am very grateful, but with experience, and this is trial and many errors, I come to achieve great personal satisfaction when I create a piece that I would be pleased to see and have. Let's not get used to 'cheap and quick' pieces that will meet the recycling center in about three years. Pieces that are sold by the hundreds may still be original but are not precisely made to fit our needs, let alone the idea of passing it to our kids and to their children. A beautifully designed and made piece should be included in the family heirloom and be loved and enjoyed by the ones you want. I studied design and furniture making in Bristol and in Wisbech (Cambridgeshire) and finished my last three years with distinction. I have been awarded with the Student of the Year Award, the Elizabeth Wright Charity Award, the Joiners and Ceilers Award received in Buckingham Palace by HRH Princess Anne, won the City and Guilds Gold Medal for Excellence in 2012 and was nominated for another Gold Medal for Excellence in 2013. I work with wood and we have a good understanding with each other. Here you saw what I do and some of the pieces that I have done. I hope it goes without saying that there is nothing more gratifying to me than working on a project. A project that you had in your head, or even a sketch or as simple as an idea.
