The Fen girls are loving the new shade of green as it’s mummy’s favourite!

Look out Lincolnshire - the next generation of farming queens are here and ready to roll! 🚜👑

We had 3 very excited & giddy young ladies from J.B Robinson and Sons in our Holbeach St Johns yard this week to collect their newest fleet addition - a shiny and powerful used 9RX 640! Dad was with them of course but we think this monster machine is more for them than it is for him really 😂.

We absolutely love seeing the passion that young girls like these have for farming, and embracing the importance of the industry from such a young age is truly inspiring.

Thank you again to J.B Robinson for their valued business - and watch out in the future for these amazing Fen girls, we're sure they'll be flying the farming flag for years to come! 💚💛

WE ARE HIRING….

Due to expansion of the business and a new farming practice being put in place, we have a general farm worker position available.

This position includes the need for driving Fendt,JCB and Massey Ferguson tractors, an ideal 8 combine and a Grimme varitron 470 potato harvester aswell as all the normal farm duties which include using a pressure washer and a hand sweeping brush at times as this isn’t just a sit down and let everyone else do the hard work position.

We work as a team here and the applicant that will be right for the job will need the same mindset.

Rates of pay will be dependant on experience and skill level.

Experience for combine and potato harvester driving is preferred but for the right applicant I would be willing to train them.

Please be aware Nissan navara with an IBC on a flat bed tried to either steal diesel or a truck at whaplode drove 22.01pm this evening But were stopped by the alarm and ran away. Silver/grey truck didn’t get the reg and it didn’t have a canopy on the truck. 3 males inside.

Well thats a Wrap….

Here at J.B.Robinson we have been harvesting crops since the 28th of April starting with peony’s and yesterday was the final day of harvest with the last carts of potatoes being graded late in the evening.

Yields have been very variable and a little disappointing in places but hey “that’s farming”.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to my wife Holly Robinson and my children for supporting myself and the whole operation and always being there for me when the days are tough and it’s hard to keep pushing.

Also thank you to all our suppliers and our customers for working with us to get through yet another difficult season, as always a few Tantrums along the way but you put up with me really well so thank you for that.

We wouldn’t be the great business that we are without the staff we have and the hard work and dedication you put in with the long hours and graft it takes to work the land, thank you for your commitment to the business and our family and to getting through the good and bad times together.

Wherever the operation of lifting potatoes or field work we have been carrying out, if the road is still muddy after this rain please let me know and il get it cleaned. Thank you for putting up with abit of mess we can’t help.

And…. We’re off….Been a very tricky start here at J.B.Robinson and for many farmers who are trying to lift potatoes and farm in
General

The land is as dry as I’ve ever known it this time of year, especially in the bottom/subsoil it’s hard as concrete. Shear bolts are a must for the moment as we’re going to need some!

We just wanted to say thank you for the continued support of all our staff, suppliers customers and friends of the farm/family as without all of you it wouldn’t be possible!

Sometimes I wonder why I chose this career as it’s not easy but then I always think back to an old farmer friend and how if you asked him what he would do if he won the lottery, his response was always “I’d keep farmin til’ it’s all gon” in a thick Lincolnshire fen accent, which would then remind me this isn’t a career, for farmers it’s our whole life and what a wonderful life it is too, even though it’s not easy.

Good luck to all the other farmers out there with the final push to the end of the season and let’s hope we get some rain… (but not too much)

Well harvest is all done at J.B.Robinson, or at least one of the harvests of the year. Thank you to anyone and everyone that helped with the unsocial hours that comes with it! Your help is much appreciated.

Started off as a difficult one but the weather has come good to make it an enjoyable combine season this year.

With yields all over the place I don’t think any of us farmers will be looking at a record breaking year in terms of income from cereals!

Onto potatoes tomorrow, (pics are last seasons events) let’s hope for a good season getting these spuds out the ground and that we don’t get a repeat of 2019 and 2023 weather!

P.S. We apologise in advance if we put mud on the road but we will clean it up. If it isn’t cleaned up enough, either contact through messenger to the business or contact me directly and I will try my best to get it sorted ASAP, but please bear with us, it is the countryside after all and mud in the winter comes with it.

Thank you to everyone that attended the charity ploughing match today. We hope everyone had a good time and enjoyed seeing the vintage tractors working the land dealing with the mountain of chopped straw…. We promise to bale the straw next year… we raised a total of £353.21p for flinders founders from the event which I personally think is amazing!!

A special thank you to Paul Beecham and his team for making today’s event possible and run smoothly.

Without people like this, community’s just don’t have events like today, which bring everyone together and give us a chance to see each other and share our passion. We’re privileged to have the chance with these amazing people to hold days like today which for me and our family/friends really feels like we can bring back some of that old school community spirit.

Please keep your eye out for the working day in 2026.

Sorry for the radio silence, we have been hard at work day and night at JBR getting sunflowers cropped and combining malting Barley (for your nice cold pints at the pub) and Winter Wheat. We will be planning on doing another pick your own sunflowers over a couple of weekends in the next few weeks when combining has finished so please keep your eye on the page for more updates.
