Look out for these in Lochaber right now!

A Pearl-bordered Fritillary butterfly on the wing today. Flying slightly earlier in the season than very similar small Pearl-bordered Fritillary, this species can be differentiated by markings on the underside of the hind wing. It's seven 'pearls' at the edge of the hindwing are edged with red chevrons rather than black ones. The largest 'pearl' in the centre of the hindwing, together with the redish area containing a small black spot is also said to resemble a duck's head...
