We're proud to be able to contribute to Thomas' campaign and racing spirit.
This post needs no more words so have a read and a follow.
Sometimes a picture means far more than people realise. 💚
Seeing Stuart’s van sign-written like this by the amazing team at Simply Stripes the Signmakers genuinely stopped us in our tracks.
Stuart started out simply following Thomas’s journey. Then he became a supporter, then a friend, and now he has become a really important part of everything we are trying to do.
He is highly trained in mental health support and spends a huge amount of time helping, supporting and looking out for Thomas.
That means more to us as a family than we could ever properly put into words.
People see the racing driver. They see the helmet, the car, the trophies, the events and the smiling photographs.
What they don’t always see is the young lad underneath it all.
Thomas has a massive heart. He genuinely cares about people. When families contact us, when children are struggling or someone needs a little encouragement, he will often record them a personal video message himself.
That is just the kind of kid he is.
But with everything positive that comes with having a public profile, unfortunately there is another side too.
Some of the messages that come through can be incredibly cruel and hurtful.
Because of that, Thomas has no direct access to any of the main social media accounts.
We check absolutely everything first.
We make sure he gets to see the lovely messages, the support, the stories from families and the comments that will make him smile. He will sometimes personally reply or record videos for people, but everything goes through us first.
We want him to feel the love and support surrounding him without having to carry the unnecessary negativity that sometimes comes with social media.
His big sister in the picture is another huge part of that support network too. 💚
And then you have people like Stuart, who quietly step forward and say, “I’m here.”
That is why seeing this van means so much.
It isn’t just a bit of sign writing.
It represents another person standing behind Thomas, standing behind Words Do Hurt and helping us continue spreading a message that is becoming bigger than we ever imagined.
A massive thank you to Simply Stripes for making the van look absolutely incredible, and to Stuart for everything he does behind the scenes.
There are some genuinely amazing people on this journey with us.
And we will never take that for granted. 💚
