Live Facial Recognition is to be deployed by the Metropolitan Police Service in the West End by Christmas, including Oxford Street.

Live facial recognition is being deployed across key London Underground stations from this week.

British Transport Police is expanding the trial, which began in February, to help catch “high harm” offenders and assess its benefits in the transport environment.

The system will compare travellers against a watchlist of known and wanted offenders, and will immediately delete images of anyone who is not a match.
