Not specifically our patch, but we are pleased to collaborate with Alice at Stoke council when we are looking for help for people who border the Stoke Council area. Alice runs the Micro Provider project there from within the council and does a fabulous job!

What a fab initiative!

💛 A Wonderful New Connection with Adopt a Grandparent 💛

We’re delighted to have begun an amazing new partnership with Adopt a Grandparent, a UK-registered charity dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people and care home residents.

Through this wonderful initiative, our residents are matched with volunteers who share similar interests, creating opportunities to build meaningful connections, share stories, reminisce about treasured memories and enjoy a friendly chat.

Our first connections have already begun, and it’s lovely to see the opportunities this brings for friendship, companionship and moments of joy. ❤️

# # A little of your time could make a big difference to someone else.

Do you care about people and their wellbeing? Does it bother you to think of an older or disabled person feeling lonely, or someone missing out on everyday life because they need a little support?

Do you believe everyone deserves kindness, dignity and a fair chance to live well? Are you empathetic, reliable and blessed with oodles of patience?

**You could have the makings of a brilliant micro provider.**

Through **Local Help My Way**, we help people across Staffordshire turn their caring nature and practical skills into their own small business, supporting adults in their local community.

You may even have already started a small business offering services in your community. Perhaps you would like a few hours of paid work alongside your existing job or other commitments. Perhaps you are ready to become a sole trader and grow it into your full-time work.

**Micro providers typically charge around £20 an hour, before tax, business expenses and other deductions.** As a self-employed provider, you agree your services, fees and availability directly with your clients.

Our free support includes:

- **Getting started:** help to understand self-employment and set up your small business.
- **Training and guidance:** learn about running a business and the responsibilities that come with supporting others.
- **Getting the essentials in place:** guidance on appropriate DBS checks, insurance, safeguarding and our quality standards.
- **Finding clients:** opportunities for introductions to people looking for support in your area.
- **Being part of a network:** connect with other providers, share experiences and keep learning.

You don’t need to arrive with a plan or have everything worked out. We can explore what you could offer, who you would like to support and what might fit around your life and take it from there.

Our Micro essentials session next week is about Policies within the care sector and having your own set of guidelines which is written down and available to clients. We will be talking about why its so important to have a basic set of policies, which ones, we as a scheme expect micro providers to have in place, and which other ones to think about or depending on the nature of your service. Lots of hints and tips and a chance to ask questions. It will be on Teams and we will share the link in advance. Local Help My Way is a Support Staffordshire project, funded by Staffordshire County Council, connecting older and disabled adults with local, self-employed carers and support workers.

We’re looking for compassionate, reliable people to join our network—especially in **East Staffordshire, Cannock, the Stafford area, South Staffordshire and Tamworth**.

Whether you offer everyday care and companionship or bring specialist experience in dementia, learning disabilities, autism, brain injury or other complex needs, we’d love to hear from you. We need local people who can respond when support is needed, helping people stay independent and giving family carers a break.

Joining involves checking your insurance and tax reference, completing safeguarding training, having the appropriate DBS check and signing up to our Quality Standard.

**It sounds a lot, but we’ll help you through it!** We offer training and business support to help you start or develop your own small care business, working directly with clients and building consistent, trusting relationships.

We’re looking for reliable, community-minded handypersons to join our network—especially in **East, Central, South and South East Staffordshire**. From small repairs to garden clearance and maintenance, we need people willing to respond when someone in their local community needs a helping hand.

Joining involves a straightforward verification process: checking your insurance and tax reference, completing safeguarding training, having the appropriate DBS check and signing up to our Quality Standard.

**It sounds a lot, but we’ll help you through it!** We also offer business support to show how community jobs can fit alongside your existing commercial work. You can earn a living while putting your skills—and corporate social responsibility—into practice.
