Should companies avoid supporting employee BLM initiatives? At The Human Leadership Forum we discussed this topic. https://lnkd.in/g2KC3B7 thankyou to Biraj Nakarja, Daryl Searle, Kevin Withane and Paul Whittleston for an interesting debate.
Has your organisation taken any action, has there been a honest debate? Is it good enough to say I am not racist, should we stand up and say we are anti-racist? Do we say nothing, walk away when we see something uncomfortable happen or do we call out the racist behaviour?
Is this an uncomfortable subject for employers to tackle? Have you set up forums within your organisation, have leaders made statements but not followed up with action?
Is this a political issue or a moral issue? Are you aware of unconscious bias, what about equity, are we creating hurdles or barriers for some groups in society to fail? Is there really inclusion in our workplaces?
Kevin Withane said "he looks for the exits in a bar when he enters", he goes into work everyday with the burden of things that have happended to him.
