We’ll admit it: we may have underestimated this one.
As a distributor, we initially thought Chervona Ruta might be a little too Ukrainian for an international audience. For Ukrainians, it’s the kind of song you know by heart, every word, every note. For everyone else? Perhaps a little like expecting the whole world to sing along to Sweet Caroline. 😉

But apparently, we were wrong. And we couldn’t be happier about it.
Voted Silver Coin of the Month by World Money Fair Berlin, this 10 UAH silver coin celebrates a song that became far more than a melody. Composed by Volodymyr Ivasiuk, Chervona Ruta helped shape modern Ukrainian music and became a timeless symbol of cultural identity, freedom and national spirit.
Its design captures that legacy beautifully: a river transforms into a musical staff, the melody breaks through the rocks of oppression, and the Chervona Ruta flower continues to bloom as a symbol of love, light and resilience.
Perhaps the most local stories are sometimes the ones that travel furthest. And this one deserves to be heard.

A shield for those who carry the real one. The 2026 Ukraine 10 UAH silver coin “Under the Protection” honours Ukraine’s defenders and those who chose courage and resistance to protect their country. Issued on 1 October 2026, it contains 31.1 g of pure silver and has an actual mintage of 5,000 pieces against a planned 10,000.
The design combines some of Ukraine’s strongest symbols of protection and continuity. Berehynia, the Tree of Life, appears with outstretched wings as an unseen spiritual shield over those who carry a real one. The reverse brings together a Cossack with a shield and sabre, a Ukrainian woman holding a falcon, and homes from different eras, all enclosed by stylised camouflage fabric.
With its 5,000-piece mintage, 1 oz silver format and strong visual symbolism, the coin offers a distinctive contemporary Ukrainian history piece for collectors. A focused issue with a clear story and strong imagery.

🌊 A new Ukrainian coin set for collectors who look beyond the usual themes.
Inhabitants of the Deep Sea brings together two 5 UAH commemorative coins dedicated to the marine life of Ukraine’s Black Sea and Sea of Azov:
• The Sea of Azov. The Mud Shrimp • The Black Sea. The Black Sea Scallop

More than 1.3 million Canadians have Ukrainian roots, and the connection between the two countries goes back well over a century.

In 1991, Canada became the first Western country to recognise Ukraine’s independence. Over the 35 years since, the relationship between the two countries has continued to develop, with Canada maintaining its support for Ukraine and its people.

The new 10 UAH silver “United by Freedom” brings that connection into the design. The maple leaf of Canada and the kalyna of Ukraine run across both sides of the coin, forming a continuous floral composition and a visual bridge between the two countries.

The title says it simply: two countries, connected by their shared belief in freedom.

From a numismatic perspective, the specifications are equally interesting: .925 silver, 33.62 g, Special Uncirculated, with a mintage of just 3,000 pieces.

A natural addition to Ukrainian and Canadian collections, and a coin that documents a meaningful connection between the two countries.

“Let’s Hold the Line!” has won Most Inspirational Coin at the 2026 Coin of the Year Awards.
The results were announced at the ANA World’s Fair of Money in Pittsburgh, USA, as part of the annual Coin of the Year programme organised by World Coin News.
An international panel of experts judged around 600 coins issued in 2025 by mints and issuing authorities from 41 countries. Only 10 coins were selected as category winners.

“Let’s Hold the Line!” is a 5 hryvnia nickel-silver commemorative coin issued by the National Bank of Ukraine on 24 February 2025. It reflects the resilience of Ukrainian soldiers and the unity of the people supporting them.
Now it also has an international award to its name.

Interest in the coin has picked up noticeably since the results were announced, and our remaining stock is getting limited.

One of the more interesting Ukrainian releases of 2026 is the new Sea Baby Naval Drone commemorative.

This issue is tied to a platform that has already secured its place in modern history. It was the Sea Baby that carried out the now famous “bavovna” operation against the Crimean Bridge and participated in attacks that destroyed several russian Black Sea Fleet vessels.

Beyond the coin itself, the story is significant. Ukrainian engineers demonstrated that ingenuity and asymmetric thinking can challenge a much larger naval force and, in many ways, redefine the role of unmanned systems in modern warfare.

The National Bank of Ukraine has translated that narrative into a straightforward design: a Sea Baby cutting through the Black Sea on the reverse and a stylized trident transforming into the vessel’s wake on the obverse.

From a numismatic perspective, the coin combines several elements that collectors tend to respond to over time—historical relevance, strong symbolism, and immediate recognition beyond the collecting community.
Whether it ultimately becomes one of the defining Ukrainian commemoratives of the decade remains to be seen, but it already feels like an important snapshot of a moment that will be studied for many years to come.

If I had to choose one Ukrainian cultural coin for an international coin shop this year, it would probably be this one.

Most folklore-themed coins are easy to appreciate at home.
They’re much harder to sell abroad.
Kyrylo Kozhumiaka feels different.
You don’t need to know Ukrainian folklore to understand what’s happening.
A hero. A dragon. A battle between good and evil.
It’s one of those stories that exists in almost every culture, which makes this release surprisingly accessible to international buyers.

That’s exactly why it caught my attention.
Not every coin has to tell a global story.
Sometimes it’s enough to tell a universal one.
