Talking Mats Talking Mats is a visualcommunication framework designed to help people with communication difficulties reflect on and express their views

Talking Mats is a unique communication framework devised by speech and language therapists and developed and tested through a number of funded research projects at Stirling University. The Talking Mats framework uses a mat with picture symbols attached to help people with communication difficulties think about issues discussed with them and provides them with a way to express their opinions effectively. It gives people time and space to think about information, work out what it means and say what they feel in a visual way that can be easily recorded. While accessible as a stand-alone product, its real value and impact is to be found in its application by a trained practitioner.

Being seen means you are included, respected, listened to and valued and being able to communicate about things that matter is fundamental to this.

Our friends at the Champions Group Include.org produced this short film about Talking Mats helping them communicate
