Caledonian Marts Ltd had their weekly Sale of New Season Lambs, Prime Sheep & Cast Ewes.

210 New Season Lambs were in great demand with more required weekly with an average of 452ppk with an SQQ of 448ppk and £198.80 per head, selling to 576ppk for a Texel from A McKenzie, Ardgate and per head to £270 for a Suffolk from the same home.

165 Prime hoggs had a very end of season show with not much flesh about and sold to 325p per kg and to £168 for Texels.

240 Cast Ewes sold to £229 for a Texel from Bankhead Farming.
Cast Tups sold to £200 for a Texel from L Dick, Hartfield.

New Season Lambs were in great demand averaging 456ppk with an SQQ of 459ppk selling to 558ppk for a Beltex from P G Perring, Hoprig and per head to £248 for a Suffolk from H T Shanks, Easter Cash. More Lambs required!

Cast Ewes sold to £211 for a Texel from P G Perring, Hoprig.

Cast Tups sold to £200 for a Texel from H Miller, Glenhead.

We had a great show of cattle for this time of year with 184 cattle forward.

Bullocks averaged 374ppk selling to 510ppk for a pen of Charolais from Skeoch Farms, Stirling and to £1860 for an Aberdeen Angus from R & W Moffat, Bowridge.

Heifers averaged 392ppk selling to 506ppk for a pen of Charolais again from Skeoch Farms, Stirling and per head to £2000 for a Limousin from J H Heggie, Carden.

Black and Whites sold to 302ppk for a Friesian from W & E Cook, Balcachie and per head to £1360 again from W & E Cook, Balcachie.

Prime Heifers averaged 370ppk selling to 420ppk for a Limousin from Monzie Farms, Monzie purchased by T J Alloa, Butchers and per head to £2637 for a Limousin from T Taylor, Heatheryhall.

Prime Bullocks averaged 344ppk selling to 380ppk for a Limousin from AA & J Brand, Nethermyres purchased by T J Falkirk, Butchers and per head to £2628 for a Limousin from J & J Rearie, Riggs.

Young Bulls sold to 378ppk for a British Blue from G & J Davie, Harviesmailing and to £2487 for the same beast from G & J Davie, Harviesmailing.

OTM’s sold to 285ppk for a Simmental from A & J Sloan, Springfield and per head to £2340 for a Simmental from W & M Wylie, Broompark.

New Season Lambs averaged 464ppk with an SQQ of 466ppk selling to 508ppk for a Beltex from W B Buchanan, Wester Kepdowrie and to £235 for a Texel from P G Perring, Hoprig.

A tidy up show of Prime Hoggs sold to 357ppk for a pen of Texels from R M Dunlop, Middlepart and per head to £190 on three occasions from A Smith, Mucklebrae, R M Dunlop, Middlepart & G Johnston, Durieshill.

171 cast ewes sold to £237 for a Texel from H T Shanks, Easter Cash, Strathmiglo.

Prime Bullocks averaged 332ppk selling to 392ppk for a British Blue from W M Pettigrew, Faskine and to £2631 for a Limousin from A G Baillie, Blackdub, Stirling.

Young Bulls sold to £2129 for a Simmental from A & J Sloan, Springfield, Kinross.
