Fire Door Carpenter – Team Lead
Location: London & Essex.
Reporting to and from Billericay
Job Type: Full-Time, Self-Employed
Rate: Dependent on experience

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and driven Fire Door Carpenter to lead a small team carrying out fire door remedials and installations across London and Essex.
This is a hands-on role where you will be fronting a team of two, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in full compliance with manufacturer’s instructions and current fire safety standards.
There will also be an element of fire stopping involved in this role. Training can be provided where required, but previous experience in fire doors is a major advantage.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage a small team (Labourer/Trainee provided) on site
• Carry out fire door remedials, upgrades and full installations
• Complete associated fire stopping works where required
• Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and industry standards
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and site cleanliness
• Document works completed using our mobile reporting app (photos, compliance records, sign-offs)
• Communicate effectively with site contacts and internal management

Requirements
• Proven carpentry experience (essential)
• Fire door experience (major advantage)
• Own tools (essential)
• Own van (essential, fuel and parking paid by us)
• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to lead a small team and take responsibility for site works
• Comfortable using mobile apps for documentation and reporting
• Professional attitude and strong attention to detail

Trainee Fire Door Inspector
Location: Office - Billericay, Sites - London and Essex
Salary: Dependent on experience/age.

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented candidate who will be training towards becoming a certified Fire Door Inspector to perform thorough inspections, identify potential risks, and ensure all fire doors comply fire safety standards. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, and a communication.

Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive inspections of fire doors and frames in commercial and residential buildings.
• Document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports, including any required repairs or adjustments.

Location: Based in Billericay – Work Mainly in London
Start: Immediate
Wage: Dependent on experience

We’re looking for a reliable and motivated individual to assist one of our Fire Door Engineers. This is a hands-on role with real potential to develop into a skilled Fire Door Engineer for the right person.

🔧 Responsibilities:
Assisting the engineer with manual handling (carrying doors, materials, etc.)
General labouring duties (clearing up, helping on-site)
Supporting with small tasks on-site
Learning the trade with the view to growing into an engineering role

✅ Requirements:
Reliability is essential – Some jobs are scheduled with tenants and timekeeping matters
Driving licence and own vehicle required – You’ll need to meet the engineer at our unit in Billericay unless you are located near the engineer in Maldon.

First time Pyrodec Ltd have carried out fire protection coatings to re coat the stage fire curtain of a theatre. We were working under pressure to get this completed and ready for tonight's show, we got the call around 7pm last night and Director Adam Kent and myself sprang into action to help reopen the historic Theatre Royal, Bury St. Edmunds in time for tonight's show. Our Director Paul Holland travelled early this morning from our offices in Billericay Essex to Dover in Kent to collect the specialist fire coatings then straight over to the Theatre with one of our teams to get this completed in time for tonight's performance. We'll done guys all involved.

Tomorrow Pyrodec have been called in to help in getting the Theatre Royal in Bury St. Edmunds back up and operational hopefully for tomorrow nights performance. We will be travelling to Dover in Kent to pick up the materials needed for this specialist job and then we will be going straight to the Theatre to carry out this work, as with all of Pyrodec's work a certificate will be issued with all products used being fully tested to the required fire resistance and rating.

Would be paired with an existing team to get the ropes and see the processes. We are a fully certified company that will put the right people through the necessary training. The work is mainly throughout London and some in Essex but our office is in Billericay . You will need to report to the office some mornings to collect materials so being close to the unit is preferred. Some working away could come up.

Must have own tools and own van. If you are already a team of 2 then this could work well.

The wage is dependent on experience. We pay CIS, fuel, parking and tolls.
