Ok, here goes! I’m awful at this kind of thing, awful at the whole networking thing and am way out of my comfort zone when it comes to talking about myself, which will be evident from the lack of interaction and self-promotion on any platform.
But…..it’s been 10 months now since I stepped away from secure employment and took a risk in going it alone, so it’s about time I took (another) step out of that comfort zone.
Here’s a little intro and some facts about me (hopefully some you didn’t already know😊 ):
😍 I’m the founder of Ebb & Flow Business Solutions and am currently working with businesses in the financial, tourism, housing and education sectors. Supporting them in a variety of roles and thoroughly enjoying the challenge it brings. Working on projects ranging from recruitment to gap analyses and process mapping to internal audits and policy writing, to name but a few. I’m a ‘one man band’ and truly grateful for the opportunities that going self-employed has afforded me. I work with some amazing teams and can honestly say I love what I do!
🏡 I was born in Stoke but as an ‘Army’ child, moved house 15 times, living in Berlin (yes, when the wall was there) and many other locations within England, Northern Ireland and Germany. Oh! In 1978 I went to Spandau school in West Berlin, opposite Spandau Prison where Rudolf Hess, Hitlers deputy, spent his final years before committing su***de in 1987. (totally useless information I know)
🏖 I met my Montenegrin husband in Cyprus 20 years ago, where we lived for 3 years before settling in the UK. Our 16 year old daughter says she will never forgive us for that choice 🙄 Our return to the UK involved 3 months of travel across Europe and some amazing experiences along the way, literally stumbling upon the leaning tower of Pisa late one night, an unplanned night on a waterbed in Sofia and me almost wiping out a motorcyclist in Paris
⛰ I absolutely love everything about Montenegro, the food, the culture, the language, the family values. If you haven’t been you really should – a beautiful coastline on the Adriatic, home to the worlds second largest canyon, rugged mountains, glacial lakes and national parks that are home to bears and wolves. A truly beautiful country. Oh, and I can converse in Serbian, as long as I’m shopping or talking about the weather as opposed to a deep and meaningful conversation about NATO’s involvement in the Balkan War 😔
🎿 Last but not least, at age 50 my daughter challenged me to learn to ski. In February this year we had our second skiing holiday in Montenegro and I can safely say, it doesn’t come naturally 😂 BUT, I will never admit defeat and so for now, I’ll continue to throw myself down mountains for as long as she wants to holiday with us. Thereafter, holidays will most definitely be of the lying on the beach type!
So, now you know me a little better and I’ve stepped well out of my comfort zone, you may well see a little more of me. Then again………………………… 😉
