The devastating wildfire in Stourbridge has been a stark reminder of just how quickly lives can be turned upside down.
Our thoughts are with every family who has lost their home, every farmer who has seen land destroyed, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking event. ❤️
At the same time, we've witnessed something truly inspiring.
To the firefighters who worked tirelessly in incredibly challenging conditions, thank you. To the emergency services, local authorities and volunteers who supported the response, thank you. To the businesses and community venues that opened their doors to those displaced, offering shelter, refreshments and comfort, thank you. And to everyone who has donated food, clothing, animal feed, household essentials or simply offered a helping hand – thank you for showing what community really means.
It is often said that you don't truly know the strength of a community until it is tested. Once again, our local communities have shown incredible kindness, resilience and compassion when it mattered most.
For those of us living and working in rural areas, this is also a timely reminder that the current hot, dry weather means we all need to be extra vigilant. Something as small as a discarded cigarette, a disposable barbecue or an unattended flame can have devastating consequences.
Please take care, look out for one another, and if you are able to support those affected in any way, no matter how small, it will make a difference.
