Every learning journey is different. Sometimes it's about developing new skills, and sometimes it's about honing what you already know.

The City and Guilds NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Health and Safety Practice is a more independent, self-lead approach to occupational health and safety training. There's no traditional teaching programme or exams - instead candidates create a portfolio of evidence from their day-to-day job that meets the assessment criteria.

This week we're celebrating Ryan Ramsden, who has successfully completed his NVQ with ACT after just over a year of building his portfolio based on his role as an Estates and Facilities Manager for The Rivers C.ofE. Academy Trust.

There's no law for maximum working temperature in the UK, because every workplace is different. 🔹Despite being banned in 1999, an estimated 300,000 non-domestic buildings still contain asbestos

🔹Over 5,000 deaths per year are attributed to asbestos-related diseases such as lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis.

🔹In 2022 (the latest available figures), there were 2,257 recorded deaths from mesothelioma alone.

If your job or your team’s work could disturb asbestos (even accidentally) asbestos training is not just a recommendation; it’s a legal requirement under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
