You never know who's watching 👀

We can really get disheartened when our reach is low or we aren't getting many likes on our posts.

We obsess over it.

But you never know who's watching.

And here's how I know...

This week 3 people have joined on memberships based on live videos I was doing in lockdown.

They never commented or liked the live so I had no idea. (I also had never met these people until they joined)

Same as since we have returned back to normality the amount who have mentioned my live streams kept them moving in lockdown....

Again I never even knew they had taken part as they had never commented or liked.

Moral of the story, keep posting, keep sharing and keep doing you as you never know who's watching (it's not always about likes, reach and engagement)

The biggest question I'm asked when starting with any client is "what time shall I post?"

To understand this you need to know who you are talking to and who your customer / client is.

When you understand this it makes it easier to understand what your optimal posting time is.

If you are creating excellent content you want it to be seen. 👀

Also what you think may be a great time to post as your potential customer is online may not be a time for them to digest your content.

If I was putting an educational post out I wouldn't put that out at 5pm as people are generally finishing work, sorting out what they are having for tea, getting the kids sorted and if they are online they are literally scanning not really digesting.

Most of the accounts and people I work with are in fitness / health, so Friday evening and Saturday evening is generally a no go.

To understand your optimal posting time you need to do two things

1. Get to know your ideal customers habits - know exactly who you are talking to, and use them in your content

2. TEST - mess around with the days and times for a few weeks and look at your reach and engagement figures.

Once you have done this ground work you will start to understand on what time is best to post for YOU !

I will say that again.... BUILD YOUR EMAIL LIST!

Over the last 10 years this has always been in my monthly plan ... building my email list.

Imagine yesterday IF you lost your Facebook and Instagram 🤷🏼‍♀️

How would you market what you do?

How would you make sales?

Let yesterday be a lesson and have building your email list as part of your weekly / monthly plan!

Are you stuck with what to post on your social media or what to send out to your mailing list?

Here are my 5 go to golden nuggets...

✍️ Write and create with one person in mind

🤯 Don't take yourself seriously, social media is an escapism for people, they like to see fun catchy things, and quick easy bite size chunks, not paragraph after paragraph. Same with opening an email no one will read if it goes on and on 🙄

💰 Give away your best advice and knowledge, let people know you know your stuff.... it builds trust and confidence.

📰 Have a catchy headline for your post, or caption. Same as your emails create a title and sub heading that makes them want to open up them email.

♻️ Re use content that performs well every 3-4 months. You don't always have to recreate the wheel.

What an interesting week in the fitness industry..

Not sure if other industries have had a mixed bag 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think some of us thought we would have a big boom and basically we would go back to normal, but by chatting with instructors and clubs we just haven't seen that happen.

There is a massive shift in the industry, especially with group fitness.

Are you fixing your clients or potential new customers problems?

A lot of people I speak with or mentor initially will post on social media the things they offer.

For example ....

➡️ I run this class at these times

➡️ I have PT sessions available on these

➡️ Membership costs this much

That's great and that's information people want, but it's not the first bit of information people need. In fact that's the last piece of information they need.

The content you post should be how you fix the problem.

People are looking for there problems to be solved, so show them how you solve them.

This can be through blogs, client testimonials / reviews, videos of you talking about a topic or showing people what you do.... just show them and tell them how you can fix their problems.

So as you head into this week tell and show your followers how you can fix their problems.

Your social media is your shop window ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Way before social media even existed the likes of Macy's, Harrods and Selfridges had it nailed 🔨 and to be fair still have it nailed today to compliment their marketing and social media.

These department stores have extravagant shop windows that entice you to cross the road to look, and once you have crossed the road to look you end up going inside. Then inside most probably end up buying something you never knew you wanted or needed.

Today it has never been easier to show people what you do from the comfort of their sofa.

Remember when marketing was hard work with leaflet drops and news paper adverts 🤯

Social media is your digital shop window.

Make people stop scrolling with good content. (A good headline makes people stop their tracks)

Show people what you do with short video clips.

Get testimonials from your members / customers

Show your personality

Use social media as your shop window.

Don't just post your services .... SHOW THEM !

Think about your social media and marketing in the same way as you programme and train your clients.

➡️ Have a plan. It doesn’t have to be a month plan but have a plan for that week.

➡️ Schedule your week. Use creator studio and schedule your posts. The last thing you want to do after a full day of teaching / Personal training is get home and then have to work on your social media content or send an email.

➡️ Variety of content is key. If you trained a client 3 days a week you most probably wouldn’t do the same workout every single time, and if you did no doubt that client would be bored by session 6. Mix up your content.

➡️ The key to success is consistency (this is what we tell our clients right?) Exactly how we train our clients not to take the all or nothing approach this is exactly the same with your social media and email marketing.

➡️ Rest! The same rule exactly applies. Too much social media and email checking can get exhausting. I tend to have Friday afternoon/Saturdays away from this side of things.

So to recap (incase you are here and not in the fitness industry)

1. Have a plan
2. Schedule your content and emails
3. Post a variety of things
4. Be consistent
5. Have rest days
