This week I had the amazing opportunity to deliver a webinar for Martina Darling and Sharon Buckley as part of the Women Inspired Network. The topic: How to tell your brand story... And actually connect with your audience.

Marketing isn't just my job. It’s how I’m wired 🧠

My business brain switched on at about 15. While most were just navigating school, I was at Rolls-Royce, presenting for Young Enterprise and figuring out how to turn ideas into actual revenue. This is when I knew this was something I was actually quite good at 💡

11 years ago, I moved to Suffolk to take that passion to the big leagues. I did my Business Management degree "in-company" at Bosch. That was a masterclass in global systems. I didn't just do marketing; I led brand strategies for new launches, created content (and modelled for it)! collaborated globally and SO much more. The rest has been history:

The Big Stage: Navigating brands like Kettle Chips (Europe) and Places for People, leading shoots, market research and traveling the world to present to global teams, I’ve even danced on stage to get sales teams fired up once!

The Agency Grind: Managing over 50 SME clients across the UK and seeing exactly where marketing investment can work hard.

The Founder Hustle: Running my own fitness business for 6 years, learning what "skin in the game" really feels like. I made everything myself, the website, socials, printed advertising. I did radio too!

Today, I run my own strategic marketing business because I’m tired of seeing SMEs and founders get sold "fluff."

I had such a great session with Julie yesterday! We spent the day talking all things marketing from her big upcoming projects to a "live" audit of her WordPress website. 💻

​There is something so rewarding about working side-by-side with a client, testing out ideas in real-time, and seeing what works straight away. I’m now working on a deep-dive report to help her take things to the next level!

​But it’s not all work and no play... Julie is actually going to be the photographer for my Hen party in a few weeks! I’m so excited to have her there to capture those memories. 🥂

With the price of oil making every trip a luxury, I’m noticing a massive return to Hyper-Localism. We aren't driving 50 miles for an event anymore; we’re looking at the noticeboard in the local bakery.

We often think professional marketing needs to be polished, pristine, and let’s be honest a bit boring.

But then a brand like Currys drops a post that feels like it was written by your funniest friend in the group chat, and it goes viral.

Why does this work so much better than a standard "10% off" graphic?

The Pattern Interrupt: In a sea of "Corporate Speak," humor is a bucket of cold water. It forces the brain to stop and process the joke.

Lowering the Guard: When we laugh, we aren’t being "sold to." We’re having an experience. That emotional connection makes the eventual sales pitch feel like a recommendation from a peer.

The takeaway? Don't be afraid to take the "professional" mask off. If you can make someone laugh, you’ve already won half the battle.
