Bit of a soggy day on the moors today! 🌧️

This Norway spruce had previously been topped poorly, resulting in heavy dieback and fungal decay throughout the crown and stem. We were called out to carry out a crown reduction due to its proximity to the property.

The tree has now been reduced and made safe for the time being, although unfortunately the decay will likely mean removal in the future. For now though, the immediate risk has been managed and the property is out of the failure zone.

A productive Saturday morning clearing back heavily overgrown pathways and brambles for the local angling club.

The paths had become almost unusable, with anglers’ waders getting ripped apart by the brambles, so it was definitely overdue.

Approximately 1.8 miles of strimming completed today, a massive difference made 👍

Latest bit of kit is this little beast, fits through 99% of houses and gets right up to the job 🌳

Tree taken down, climbed and dismantled carefully to protect the customer’s lawn, then chipped down into fresh plant bedding, all in just 10 minutes!

Fast, tidy, and efficient 👌

Looks solid from the outside… but this sycamore was anything but 👀🌳

Big cavities, serious rot, and a hollow stem right next to a children’s playground! Not one to leave standing, safely removed to ground level ✅

Always worth getting trees checked, you never know what’s going on inside!

Another transformation in Stranraer!

This morning we planted up an area where we previously removed three large stumps, giving it a fresh new lease of life.

We’ve added six new plants, including:
🌸 Cherry trees (Prunus spp.)
🍎 Apple tree (Malus domestica)
🍃 Rowan tree (Sorbus aucuparia)
🌺 Two dwarf rhododendrons (Rhododendron spp.)

Next week, we’ll be installing a border to neatly frame and separate the new trees and shrubs 👌

Back at Inch Church cemetery in Stranraer today removing a heavily decayed birch. Significant storm damage, longitudinal cracking and extensive hollowing through the stem, with no structural integrity left, so removal was the only option!

Awkward dismantle with the A75 on one side and headstones on the other. No drop zone, so full rigging job, negative blocking off the main stem, run through a Portawrap with controlled lowers throughout.

Stump ground out on completion, leaving the area clean and ready for reuse.

Wood left on site for the local wood fairies to remove!

Fuel prices got us making… creative business decisions 🐎🪵

Meet the newest member of the team, runs on carrots, not petrol. Zero emissions, slightly stubborn, and refuses overtime unless bribed with apples 🍎

Chainsaw still works though… don’t worry 😅

A recent landscaping project we completed for a lovely customer who wanted a low-maintenance, easy-care garden for her dogs, all 7 of them! 🐾

While we don’t usually recommend artificial grass, in this case it was the best solution. Due to the customer’s disability, it provides a much more practical and manageable option for keeping the garden looking great year-round.

Another productive day today 🌿

Today we reduced around 50 metres of overgrown beech hedgerow and tidied up the remaining sections. With nesting season getting closer, we made sure to check thoroughly for any bird activity before starting work 🐦

Added in a few extra photos as well from other jobs and log deliveries we’ve been busy with recently.

A fairly hefty clearance job we wrapped up recently - a wildly overgrown rhododendron shrubbery/verge/green monster (call it what you like). Whatever it was, it’s definitely looking a lot better now it’s gone!

Now it’s clear, there’s more light, better ground conditions, and it’s ready for some native planting to open the garden up and bring it back to life.
