The World Cup has kicked off and we thought it was the perfect time to share something useful for business owners. ⚽

Because while everyone else is picking their sweepstake teams, you might be wondering what to do when three people request the same day off, someone doesn't show up after a late night, or a manager asks what they're actually allowed to say.

We've put together a simple guide covering the key things to know. Have a scroll through and give us a call if you need a hand.

Feedback can be hard to hear.

Most people say they want it, but what they really want is reassurance.

Real feedback is not about making someone feel good. It is about helping them see what they may not be able to see for themselves.

Sometimes it highlights what you are doing well.

Sometimes it points out where you need to improve.

Both are useful.

I actively ask for feedback because I want to keep learning, improving and making sure people experience Go HR in the way I intend.

That does not mean every piece of feedback is right.

It does not mean you have to act on everything someone says.

But it does mean taking a moment to listen before getting defensive.

I will always value honest feedback over comfortable feedback.

And yes, if you ask me for feedback, I will give you the truth as I see it.

Not to criticise.

To help.

So, when was the last time you asked for honest feedback?

And did you use it to improve, or did you explain it away?

Is your HR ready for the second half of the year? 📋

June is the time to take stock before summer takes over. We've put together a simple checklist of six things every SME business owner should check this month.

Performance conversations. Probation. Holiday cover. That member of staff you've been avoiding having a word with. Contracts that may need updating. And planning ahead for the rest of the year.

None of it is complicated. But all of it matters.

Swipe through the carousel and see how you're doing. And if anything flags up that you need a hand with, get in touch. That's exactly what we're here for.

We're in the press and we couldn't be more pleased to share it! 🎉

Go HR has been featured in Business London Press this week. The article focuses on something we talk about every single day, the rising employment tribunal risk for small businesses across the UK, and what owners can do to protect themselves before things go wrong.

Over half a million active tribunal cases. The majority involving businesses with fewer than 50 employees. It's a sobering picture, but the good news is that most of these situations are entirely avoidable.

We're so proud to be featured and to be adding our voice to this important conversation. If this resonates with you or someone you know, please share it, it could make a real difference to a business owner who needs to hear it.

Are you halfway through the year and not quite sure where things stand with your team? 👇

We've put together the 8 stages of a mid-year people check-in and it covers everything a business owner needs to think about right now.

From sitting down with your team for a proper review, to checking who's still on probation, identifying who's hitting targets and who isn't, sorting holiday cover before summer chaos kicks in, and making sure your contracts are up to date with the April 2026 changes.

It's not as complicated as it sounds. But it does need to happen.

Save this image and work through the stages. If you get to one you're not sure how to handle, that's what we're here for.

Drop us a message or visit www.go-hr.co.uk to find out how Go HR supports owner-managed businesses like yours.

Well, the World Cup is underway! ⚽

We're not here to rain on anyone's parade. Honestly, we love the fact it brings people together and gives teams something to bond over.

But if you're a business owner, the next few weeks can throw up some challenges you weren't expecting.

Leave clashes. Unexplained absences. Someone deciding the dress code doesn't apply when their team is playing. That sort of thing.

The good news is, most of it is straightforward to manage if you've got the right policies in place and your managers know what to do.

If you're not sure where you stand, give us a call. We'll give you a straight answer.

We've been featured in Business London Press, and the article gets straight to the point.
There are currently over half a million employment tribunal cases active in the UK. The majority involve small businesses. Not large corporations with big HR departments. Small businesses, often run by one person who is also managing staff, handling payroll, and trying to grow.

The Employment Rights Act has changed what employees are entitled to from day one. The Fair Work Agency is increasing accountability for employers. And the backlog of cases is not going down.

The good news is that most of these situations are avoidable. Not with expensive legal battles, but with the right advice, the right processes, and someone who tells you what you actually need to do.

That's what Go HR does.

Read the full article here and share it with any business owner you know who could do with a timely reminder.
