Your stand is a classroom. Is it teaching? 📚

Freeman’s 2026 data shows attendees learn more from exhibitors than from keynotes. Yet most stands are still built to display: product walls, brochure racks, a screen on loop.

64% of trade show learning now happens through conversations, demos and peer exchange. Not passive browsing.

So the brief needs to change. Open layouts over back walls. Demo zones over display panels. Easy access to your experts. Modular builds that reconfigure for every show.

One client swapped a product wall for three open demo zones. Qualified conversations doubled. Same footprint.

By the time the doors open, the best visitors have already planned their day. Which stands. Which demos. Which conversations. If you’re not on their radar, you’re not on their route.

What the brands with packed stands do differently:

📩 Start at least four weeks out. Email existing contacts and tell them you’ll be there.

📣 Post on LinkedIn and use the show’s official hashtag.
🗣️ Brief your sales team with talking points so conversations start before the event.

🎯 Give people a reason to visit. Not “come and see us.” A product reveal, a live demo they can’t see anywhere else, a free consultation. Something worth the walk.

📸 Keep going during the show. Post live, share photos, show what’s happening. Some of your best visitors haven’t decided yet.

Busy stands aren’t luck. They’re promotion.

Original Composites & Fibreglass | USA 🇺🇸

17 years of partnership, and still building bigger.

For this show we delivered a 30ft x 40ft prime exhibit space, designed to work as hard as the team on it. At its heart, a networking lounge built for meeting new and existing clients, which also hosted a Women in Composites industry event.

Another happy client and another project delivered in the USA, backed by our extensive experience in the region.

Stop designing stands. Start designing experiences.

Ask this about every single element: does it serve our why?

Not “does this look good.”
Not “does the MD like it.”
Does. It. Serve. The. Goal.

Counter too high for conversation? Question it.
Giant logo, no clear message? Question it.
Demo screen facing the wrong way? Question it.
Brochure stand no one stops at? Cut it.

The best stands aren’t the most expensive ones — they’re the ones where people know exactly what you do within 3 seconds of walking past.

That clarity doesn’t happen by accident. It’s a decision. It means challenging your supplier, your stakeholders, and your own assumptions.

Design for the visitor. Not the boardroom.

First, the design and build side.

When you get a quote from your design and build partner, the critical question is: have they been transparent with all costs? Have they included everything—fabrication, transportation, installation labour, modifications, contingencies? If they haven’t, you’ll receive an unexpected invoice weeks or months later, often at a point where you can’t push back. That’s reactive, not strategic.

This is where we’re different. We design to show regulations from the start, which means we don’t design something that can’t be built. Once we win a job, aside from changes you request, there are no surprise redesign costs. Honest pricing. Honest delivery.

Then there’s the venue and show services layer. The show organiser charges for booth space—that’s line one. But electrical supply, rigging points, Wi-Fi, cleaning, waste removal, loading dock access—these sit outside your exhibiting budget. They’re governed by third-party suppliers the venue contracts with, and the costs are genuinely unknown until the exhibitor manual arrives. And that manual often doesn’t land until a few months before the show.

Common shocks: cleaning, power consumption charges that spike unexpectedly, rigging fees that double hanging costs.

The difference: experience and presence. We’ve run these shows for years. We’re at all the major venues. We know the ins and outs because we live them. Which means when we quote, we include all those show service variables from day one. No surprises. No post-event invoices.

Built for business. 🏗️

Our stand for Bodycote at Farnborough Air Show wasn’t just a space — it was a statement.

✅ Open meeting areas that invite conversation
✅ 2 private booths for the deals that need discretion
✅ Product zones that do the talking
✅ Branding that stops you mid-walk
✅ Premium finishes, top to bottom

This is what “means business” looks like on a show floor.

A stand without a clear objective is an expensive backdrop ⚠️

Most companies book exhibition space because they always have. Or because a competitor is going. Or because someone senior thought it would be good to ‘show a presence’. These are not strategies. They are expensive habits.

Your why isn’t a vanity statement. It’s the filter for every single decision that follows. Stand design, messaging, team briefing, interactive elements, follow-up strategy, measurement — all of it flows from one clear, honest answer.

Are you generating qualified leads? Launching a new product? Deepening relationships with existing clients? Recruiting talent? Entering a new market? Each of these requires a completely different approach to your stand, your team, and your investment.

The most common mistake in exhibition strategy is conflating attendance with purpose. Being there is not a goal. What happens while you’re there — that’s the goal.

Write your exhibition goal in one sentence. Not a paragraph. Not a list. One sentence. Pin it somewhere every team member will see it. Let it challenge every decision you make between now and the last day of the show.

Why Your Leads Die After the Show Ends

Exhibitor Magazine data shows 51% of exhibitors still cannot measure their trade show ROI — yet of those who do measure, 77% report a positive return. The gap isn’t performance. It’s process.

Post-show follow-up strategy for exhibition leads — how to build the bridge between stand performance and measurable pipeline, so the investment doesn’t evaporate the moment the hall closes

Does TECH always stack up on stands? Let’s dive in…

Tech for its own sake is burning budgets
Exhibitors are spending more on stand technology than ever. Most cannot tell you whether it moved a single conversation forward.

Attendees notice. Then they walk on.
73% of purchase decisions are influenced by stand experience. Yet fewer than 30% of exhibitors change their design approach year on year.

The real job of stand tech is connection
When technology is integrated with intent, not bolted on, it creates the conditions for better conversations, longer dwell time, and warmer leads.

LED content should earn its square footage
A full-surface LED environment only works if it is content-led. Brief the screen content like you’d brief for your stand design, with purpose and a clear message.

AI personalisation is real — and it is here
When your CRM integrates with visitor registration data, your screen can greet a VIP by name the moment they walk in. That is not a gimmick.

Interactive displays need a reason to exist
The question is not whether to have a touchscreen, it is what decision or discovery it facilitates. Product configurators outperform passive scrolling every time.

Sound and light design is the hidden differentiator
The stands that hold attention longest manage ambient sound and directional lighting deliberately. Most brands leave this to chance on-site.

Hybrid broadcasting from the stand floor
Leading exhibitors at shows like Farnborough are streaming live activations to remote audiences in real time. Your stand can reach beyond the hall.

Plan your content before you plan your screen size
Technology decisions made before content decisions result in screens showing screensavers. Start with the story. Then size the hardware around it.

One LED wall. Three shows. One clear idea.
A client in industrial technology replaced four static graphic panels with a single content-driven LED wall. Dwell time doubled. Leads qualified faster.

Tech does not replace a great conversation
The best stands use technology to start conversations, not replace them. Your team still closes. The screen just opens the door.
