Squiggle's Studio

Squiggle's Studio Commission painting service based in Kent, reasonable prices, professional and passionate. Thank you for visiting my page and taking the time to read this.

Squiggles studio is a commission painting service based in Rochester Kent. I specialise in painting miniatures for tabletop wargaming such as Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar and Infinity (and many many more!). The studio was opened in August 2018 but I have been involved in miniature painting seriously since 2012. I consider myself to be very passionate about what I do and love to be a part of you

r creative process as you envisage how you want your miniatures to look. Since opening I have worked on countless different commissions for all sorts of games and characters, doing my best to bring the characters to life through painting but above all meet the image you have in your head for your army, characters or board game. If you are considering getting miniatures commissioned please do not hesitate to contact me via the ‘Send Message’ button on the front page, or send an email to

[email protected]

I’d be more than happy to give you a no obligation quote or answer any question you may have. Good communication, passion and quality are the cornerstones of Squiggle’s Studio. If you would like any further information in regards to pricing, please feel free to get in touch and I can send you details that give you a general idea of cost plus my terms and conditions. The second part of squiggle’s Studio is promoting mental health awareness and the benefits painting and building miniatures can have on conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD and similar. I volunteer with Models for Heroes who work with military veterans building and painting scale models to assist in their rehabilitation. I also run sessions every month at local gaming stores around the U.K where I invite everyone and anyone to sit with me, paint some models and feel safe and comfortable to talk about how they are feeling, and what they’ve been through. These have been really successful and I am deeply humbled by the support they have received. Mental health is very important to me, due to my personal and professional experiences. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need any further information. Mike

Well…looks like I’m going all in on Old World…

Even at 500pts it was great fun, reminded me of the old days of Warhammer Fantasy but with some tweaks.

Lost 1 won 1 so can’t complain!

Stars of both games were the chaos ogres who just rampaged through everything they came in contact with.

The Trolls did what Trolls do, went stupid and just wandered around….

Feels good to have some passion for the hobby again.

Does anyone else think “coneheads”?!

I love the whole Emperors Children range, but these made me laugh I have to admit!

The poses are fantastic but just the heads!

Road Trip!

Staying with family for Easter weekend and for a kid who hates to be in one place for so long he did amazing on a 3 hour drive! (With a coffee stop obviously) snacks, music and toys! Then the iPad ready in case it got rough 🤣

On a side note, I’m thinking of changing the pages name as I can’t really call myself a studio anymore.

Not sure what to go with, the name Squiggle is important to me.

Any suggestions?

Have a great weekend!

Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter weekend from the Squiggle family!

To catch you all up on my hobby recovery I’ve been messing around with a small Nurgle force for the Old World (Warhammer Fantasy to us oldies) it’s only about 500pts at the moment but it’s been a great way to get my hands functioning without worrying too much about the end result, just need to finish the bases.

Thank you for all the support on my previous post. It really is appreciated.

Hobby wise I’ve been focusing on getting my painting skills back on two games mostly.

Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game (GW)

And

Infinity (Corvus Belli)

I managed to get a 3D printed Uruk Hai army for a very good price (check out hammerlineminis ) and they were really simple and fun to paint just to get the brushes moving. I added a few other units like Wargs just for a bit of variety. It’s a really enjoyable game as well, cinematic, fast paced and units don’t just get wiped off the table in the first turn 🤣

I’ve always liked infinity and when I was gifted some JSA (space samurai basically) I thought I’d try and do an anime inspired scheme just to see how it went. I’m pretty happy with them!

Am I as good as I used to be? No, but I’m happy with the progress!

What have you lot been working on recently?

Sorry for the terrible photos, I had to down size my working area so need to get some new backdrops etc.

Hey everyone

I’ve been thinking about doing this post for along time. But couldn’t think of how best to write it.

The truth is I never really recovered mentally from my illness is 2023.

I was a couple of months away from dying, I don’t mean that as an exaggeration, that’s what the doctor me could have happened if I hadn’t of got checked and put on the right treatment. I have permanent nerve damage in both my legs and feet and it nearly spread to my hands meaning that painting was nearly impossible.

I’ve let a lot of people down, more than I’d care to mention but I just couldn’t handle it all and had to try and focus on my health and family. I was scared to go outside for months because I was terrified I’d get sick or pass out or worse. Only within the last few months have I been able to try and enjoy life again.

I’ve worked hard on my health and fitness to try and make sure I’m healthy for mini Squiggle for as long as possible.

I will never be the same painter or even person I was before, but I don’t want to lose this page or the community, the people met I’ve along the way have been a constant source of positivity.

I’ve slowly started to improve my painting and although I don’t think I will ever make it up to the people I’ve let down, I’m going to do my best to try.

I may do a few commissions here and there but for now this is just going to be a place to talk about the hobby, my journey through being a parent of a SEND child, and just try to stay positive.

I hope you and yours are safe and well.

With love

Mike

So I thought I’d do something I haven’t done before just as something different. Last summer holidays I could barely move so it wasn’t an enjoyable experience for me or Mini Squiggle but this time around I’m ready for it.
So I thought I’d give you a run down of what I got up to as a parent/carer to a child with special needs during the holidays.

We spent a lot of time doing water play as it’s one of Lochys favourite things to do, a lot of children with sensory issues find it calming and fun. Especially if they are having transition issues.
We got his hair cut, which can always be a difficult experience as he struggles with the loud noises of the hairdryers and music but he did absolutely fantastic.
We went to a big toy store and he walked around the entire store and didn’t get overwhelmed/overstimulated and picked out his own toy (which nana paid for!) he even waited patiently while it was being bought.
He went to the pet store but unfortunately there were no fishes this time! But he enjoyed looking around anyway.
We even managed to find a new sensory room to go to in a church that doesn’t charge anything (but we did donate to the church) he didn’t spend long in there as it was a new place but he enjoyed it and we plan to go back each week.
It’s been tiring but a really enjoyable week, he may be non verbal but we’ve had a ton of smiles and laughs, a few tears and a couple of meltdowns but all in all a good week!

Next week…Alpacas!

This week is sponsored by plenty of coffee…hot and iced..
