A Prayer For Oscar.

We gather now,
Hands cold, plans warm,
Before opening the freezer once again.

Oscar is ready.

Label checked.
Timing right.
Message aligned.

We thank him for his reliability,
For never asking questions,
For never contradicting the story we need today.

As we send him out,
May the angles be favourable,
The lighting obliging,
And the assumptions immediate.
May context stay behind,
And doubt arrive too late.

We do not send Oscar by chance,
But by choice.
Not discovered,
But deployed.

Go well, Oscar.
Hold your pose.
Do your job.
We’ll collect you when the moment has passed.

Amen. 🦊❄️

Top tips for effective AI
Plan the access, space and exit of your AI facilities to reduce gilt and sow stress and maximise boar contact.
Ensure that there is a well-planned process for the storage and handling of semen on farm.
Regularly carry out staff training and review how to effectively calculate the timing of service, identification of sows and gilts in heat and AI techniques.

Review the effectiveness of interventions and management strategies, e.g. breeding group selection and synchronisation of oestrus, using effective record keeping.

Field Trip Report:

What initially appeared to be a routine field trip quickly descended into chaos, as widespread puddles and muddy Crocs, made field walking difficult.
In the interest of crew and trainee safety, the majority of scheduled field deliveries were cancelled.

As the day drew to a close and preparations to pack up began, it remained uncertain whether any placement would be achieved at all.

After what felt like a wasted 15 hours, persistence finally paid off when Tarquin located Oscar’s brother. The discovery was made within the freezer van, buried beneath the frozen poodles.
At last a placement could be made.

Throughout the operation, the team encountered repeated hazards in the form of restricted thought processes, low morale, and lost revenue.
Despite these setbacks, the day cannot be considered a complete failure.
Our work experience trainees were able to spend valuable time in the field alongside Mercedes, Annabelle, and Tarquin, gaining firsthand exposure to real world conditions and the realities of field operations.

Great News:

Our supporter funded recycling centre has received its first donations.

These critters will now be processed,
tested and depending on condition, will be redeployed or sent to our restorer to be given a new life as a lamp or table.

Much Love,
Mercedes and the team.

Tit Report:
12 August 2025

Tarquin and Russ had a great day out in the countryside.
Unfortunately Tarquin brought the wrong flag.

Sadly our day was cut short as Russell's mummy had his alphabetti spaghetti and vegan sausages ready.
For helping the critters to safety, we were treated to a six pack of orange fruit shoot.

Even though we had a few set back's, Mercedes did get fantastic shot of a Red Grouse.
