Lawnwood Pens

Lawnwood Pens I use traditional woodturning skills and craftsmanship to create high quality handmade pens.

I have been a wood turner for a long time but over recent years I have concentrated almost exclusively on the making of hand-made pens. These pens are made from both English and exotic woods from across the world. In addition I also use beautiful man made acrylics, Trustone and even polymer clay. Each pen is unique, because being hand-made I cannot reproduce two exactly the same. All the pens you

see are for sale and will be supplied in a high quality presentation pen box. If there is a pen you would like to buy or would like further information do not hesitate to contact me. Postage in the UK is a standard £3.50 but if you live within the Sutton Coldfield area I am happy to deliver the pen personally.

Just arrived today, two new pen blanks from the ex-Conway Stewart stock. This is how one of my hand made pens begins life, as a solid acrylic block. These are drilled, turned on a lathe, polished until hopefully it becomes a new pen ready to give many years of service.

My latest Atrax fountain pen made from another of the acrylic blanks obtained from the liquidated Conway Stewart, pen manufacturer. This pen blank was known by Conway Stewart as Flecked Autumn. The third picture shows one of their actual pens using this blank.

The gold Atrax fountain pen is one of my favourite pens. It has a simple straight-forward design whilst offering style, function and superior quality. The acrylic body is another of the Conway Stewart blanks called “Harvest”. This pen offers the use of a cartridge or ink reservoir.

The chrome Victor rollerball pen has a bronze & orange acrylic body. The only plastic bit used in this pen is for the female thread in the cap. It is necessary to use the nylon thread because it helps the lid secure the pen in place. A metal on metal thread will result in the plating wearing away very quickly.

A Waterfall gold plated fountain pen made from Birdseye Maple. This wood that comes from the USA is so called due to the small round figuring that is supposed to look like bird’s eyes. The wood is expensive and can be found being used as veneers in specialist furniture and musical instrument.

A Chrome Pristina fountain pen with upgrade gold accents. The components are made from solid brass pieces. The only plastic part of the pen is the female thread in the cap as metal against metal would wear quickly. The body of the pen is turned from a bronze & orange acrylic pen bank and polished to a high shine. The pen can be used with an ink cartridge or an ink pump. To enhance the pen it is supplied in a two-tone carbon fibre pattern material pen box with white satin interior to give a high-end look. This is a substantial fountain pen that would make a perfect gift.

A Zeta ball point pen in gold and gunmetal.
It was made from Polymer Clay. Although it’s called polymer clay in fact it is a synthetic material based on PVC. Like natural clay it can be sculpted into a vast array of shapes. Once it has been baked in an oven it hardens and can be drilled and turned like wood. It results in a durable and polished surface. The body of the pen is sparkling red due to the glitter within the clay.

A Baron fountain pen.
This pen has been made from an original Conway Stewart pen blank. This pen blank was bought when the British pen maker Conway Stewart went into liquidation in 2014. These blanks were used to make some of their finest pens.
