The Blue Marlin, launched by Dutch company Wattlab and German shipping giant HGK, is the world’s first hybrid solar-powered inland cargo vessel.

Featuring 192 solar panels generating 37,500 kWh annually, it’s the first ship to directly power its drivetrain with solar energy.

The 282-foot vessel will transport bulk goods for steel producer Salzgitter AG, cutting CO2 emissions by 79,366 pounds yearly.
