Happy Autism Acceptance Month!

For a long time now, April has been known as Autism Awareness Month but more and more our community has been calling for an Autism Acceptance.

Why?
• Being aware is not enough to change the tangible reality of most autistic people
• The 'awareness' is often biased and based in myths
• Awareness campaigns are very rarely autistic-led - so we are often left out of our own story
• Many of the organisations leading these campaigns are in fact harmful to the autistic community e.g. Autism Speaks

What can you do?
• Listen to autistic people and their experiences
• Hire autistic people for talks/training instead of neurotypical 'experts'
• Research organisations before supporting them. Are they autistic-led?
• DON'T 'Light it Up Blue' for autism, DO , or
• DON'T use puzzle piece imagery, DO use the neurodiversity symbol (rainbow infinity symbol)

Happy Trans Day of Visibility to all my trans siblings out there!

To all the cisgender people out there - take this day to do some learning and listen to trans voices!

If there's something you're unsure on, you don't understand, or you've heard a myth about trans people but don't know how to dispel it, take a few minutes today to do a bit of research. Have a look on google, watch a youtube video, read an article written by a trans person, etc.

The more we're listened to and understood, the easier things become for us.

Today we're sharing with you new research on trans people's experiences of conversion therapy.

Our new report reveals how gender diverse people are severely harmed by conversion therapy and what you can do to help in the UK.

The ground-breaking study was conducted last year by a coalition of LGBT+ charities in conjunction with Richard Matousek, an independent research monitor.
