🎃 Halloween came early to BNI Dylan! 👻

Our members swapped their usual business attire for Halloween costumes this week, bringing plenty of creativity, laughs and a few frightening faces to the breakfast table. Everyone got into the spirit, proving that networking doesn’t always have to look quite so serious!

👻 This week’s 10-minute presentation came from Sian Ross at Avanni Kitchens, who brought a little spooky inspiration to the world of kitchen design. It was a chance to learn more about the business and how Sian helps homeowners see the possibilities in their space. Planning a new kitchen can feel daunting, so having someone to guide you through the design, layout and finishing touches makes a real difference.

Thankfully, the only kitchen nightmares were part of the Halloween theme! 🎃

🎨 There was also a lovely personal touch with artwork from JET Art Gallery for Toria Hibbert, celebrating her days working for Virgin. A thoughtful way to capture memories from that chapter of her life, and a reminder of how personal a piece of art can be.

Alongside the costumes and Halloween fun, the morning was about what makes BNI Dylan tick: getting to know the people behind local businesses, understanding their work and spotting opportunities to support one another.

Another Friday morning connecting with local businesses at BNI Dylan! 🤝

At our meeting on Friday 23rd October, the spotlight was on Yasmin Smith from Gower Plumbing and Heating, who delivered this week’s 10-minute presentation. 🔧🔥

It was an opportunity to get to know Yasmin and her business beyond the weekly introduction, and build a better understanding of the people we can put her in touch with.

Plumbing and heating are things we often take for granted until something goes wrong. Having someone you know you can contact makes finding help that little bit easier — especially as we head into the colder months!

That’s why our 10-minute presentations are such a useful part of BNI. They help us learn more about each other’s businesses, recognise opportunities and make more informed introductions.

Another Friday morning at BNI Dylan, with plenty to celebrate and an unexpected breakfast guest! 👏

🎉 Passport to Success completed!

A big congratulations to Pedro Pereira and Yasmin Smith on completing their BNI Passport to Success.

It’s a great milestone that helps members get to know the chapter, build relationships and learn how to make the most of their membership. Taking time to understand each other’s businesses gives us a better idea of the introductions and referrals we can make.

Well done to all three. We’re looking forward to seeing those connections continue to grow!

🌱 Ten minutes with Swansea Community Farm

This week’s ten-minute presentation came from Kate Gibbs at Swansea Community Farm, our local charity.

It was a lovely opportunity to hear more about the farm’s work and the people behind it. Having a charity in our chapter gives us a chance to understand the support it needs and think about how our businesses, contacts and skills could help.

Thank you, Kate, for sharing more about the farm and reminding us of the difference we can make when we support organisations in our own community. 💚

🐦 An unexpected visitor…

We also had a little seagull pop up at the window, apparently keen to see what was on the breakfast menu!

We can’t confirm how many referrals it had brought along, but it certainly spotted an opportunity. No membership application just yet, although we suspect breakfast might bring it back next week. 😂

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday. Celebrating progress, learning more about each other and having a laugh together is a pretty good way to start the day.

Another Friday morning with BNI Dylan! 🙌

Today’s meeting gave us a chance to get to know a member’s business in more detail, celebrate a renewal and recognise an achievement that deserves another round of applause.

🎤 Chris Turrell from Bredon Finance took the spotlight

Chris delivered this week’s ten-minute presentation, giving members more time to learn about his business and the support he offers.

These presentations are a valuable part of our Friday meetings. The better we understand each other’s work, the easier it becomes to spot opportunities, make useful introductions and pass referrals with confidence. Thank you, Chris, for taking the time to share more about what you do.

👏 Mathew Price is back for year two

We were pleased to celebrate Matthew Price from OLP accountants renewing his BNI membership for a second year!

Building strong business relationships takes time, regular conversations and a willingness to support each other. It’s great to have Matthew continuing as part of BNI Dylan, and we look forward to another year of connections, referrals and shared successes.

🏆 Congratulations again to Steve Coleman

A big congratulations once again to Steve Coleman for winning the 2026 BNI Givers Gain Award.

Givers Gain sits at the heart of BNI: supporting other people, sharing opportunities and helping fellow members move their businesses forward. Steve’s award is a fantastic achievement and a lovely reason for the chapter to celebrate. Well done, Steve!

Last week’s BNI South West Wales Awards & Charity Dinner in Cardiff was the highlight of the BNI year—and Dylan turned up in style. 🌟
We had a full table at The Cornerstone, with several Dylan members celebrating an incredible night of recognition, connection and giving back.
While our chapter was nominated across multiple categories, it was individual excellence that shone brightest:

Huge congratulations to both. Your commitment to referrals, leadership and the Givers Gain® philosophy makes us all proud. 💙
Beyond the awards, the evening mattered because of the supported charities championed by BNI chapters across South West Wales. With games, raffle, and auction we raised lots of money that ll went for the charities.
Already looking forward to next year… when the Awards return to Swansea. 🙌

New month. New leadership team. Plenty to look forward to at BNI Dylan! 🙌

Last Friday, we welcomed Neena Patel, Sian Ross and Steve Coleman as our incoming leadership team for October 2026 to October 2027. We’re looking forward to seeing them bring their ideas, energy and ambition to the chapter over the next 12 months.

We also introduced the wider team taking on roles for the year ahead, including our Education Coordinator, Visitor Hosts and the members who help keep our meetings running smoothly. There’s plenty that goes on behind the scenes, so thank you to everyone stepping up and giving their time to support the chapter.

And we couldn’t start a new month without celebrating September’s achievements! 🏆

👏 A big thank you to our outgoing BNI Dylan Leadership Team!

Last week marked our final meeting with Gavin Timlin as President, Christopher Turrell as Vice President, and Kate Gibbs as Secretary/Treasurer.
Over the past 12 months, they’ve given their time, energy and care to help Dylan grow. They’ve kept our weekly meetings welcoming and productive, helped us build stronger connections, and created more opportunities for members to generate business for one another. We’re grateful for everything they’ve done for the chapter.
Our incoming Leadership Team had a lovely surprise waiting for them: thoughtful gifts to say a proper thank you for all that hard work. 🎁

Last Friday was our Stack Day and what a meeting it was! The room was buzzing with energy as we welcomed lots of visitors from many different professions and industries. The atmosphere was uplifting, encouraging, and full of positive vibes.

Our visitors had the chance to share what they do, what they're looking for, and the feedback was fantastic: time and time again, people tell us how friendly, positive, and enjoyable our meetings are, especially for first-timers who might find it daunting.
