We had a busy day recording podcasts yesterday for use in the run-up to Christmas and for the New Year. Many thanks to all of our guests - some powerful stories were told and shared.

Hosted by Fiona Scott, today’s podcast welcomes Holly Bird, owner of Birddog Catwalk, a premium pet sitting and walking business based in Malmesbury, Swindon, Bristol, Cirencester, Chippenham and nearby areas. Holly shares that she’s always had a love for animals and grew up with pets as a child including guinea pigs and a budgie, when she was only five. When she was seventeen, Holly started working in a dog kennel in Salisbury and absolutely loved it.

Over the years, Holly gained her degree and worked different jobs. But whilst business networking, she bumped into a man who had a full-time job in marketing and did pet sitting on the side at weekends. He told her he had booked a nineteen-day dog sitting gig and had booked time off his marketing job to do it. Holly was running a virtual assistant business at the time and she realised she could do something similar and work remotely from any setting. Holly goes on to say that it made sense for her to start a new business in dog sitting because she wasn’t able to have a dog at the time, but that this could give her the chance to still be around animals and engage in her passion.

Holly shares that she signed up initially to an app where she could book dog sitting jobs and she quickly became fully booked. She loved it but soon realised she couldn’t keep up with the demand alongside her responsibilities as a parent, but it was clear there was a demand for this service. She then came up with the idea of Birddog Catwalk.

We're running a series of in-person, small group workshops in January and February, setting out the basics of PR. It's for a maximum of six people for each workshop which can be booked individually or as a job lot.

This week, I attended a TBE Business Breakfast at Lydiard Park right next to the Church - one of the most interesting churches in the UK. Visited by Elizabeth I it also has very rare paintings which have been conserved - these are medieval and are historically important globally. Only a small number of places in the world have images like this - particularly the head of Christ - and its right on our doorstep.

Then we stepped into the room and had a discussion about technology and AI - two things so far apart!

At our BusinessWise Swindon group today we were challenged by Barbara Leatham our professional photographer to take a prop and use it with our logos to create an image we could use in our story-telling.

I opted for a bit of bling - a real diamond of course!

For me it's about PR being part of a marketing mix and often the final activity - that which makes a company shine and twinkle for their creativity, innovation, ethics, services, products and most importantly of all - their PEOPLE.

It'a week this week of stories, business and networking with business buddies. Our friendly BNI White Horse chapter was buzzing and we've got a new member joining us too - Holly Bird of Birddog Catwalk . So pleased to be part of this group and to be learning about what BNI means these days - very different to almost 20 years ago!

We have an open day soon on October 21 - message me if you'd like to come along to visit.

Fabulous to pop into ready for the sale this week and to have a sneak peek at some of the lots on offer. Always love having a snoop around and it's also quite dangerous in terms of being tempted to buy. My favourites are the bakelite radio and the art deco fruit machine!

Headed down to see the team at this weekend and may have bought some vintage goodies. Loads more stock now and lovely to catch up with Mike and we have some plans for 2027. Watch this space. They are based at Unit 3 Little Smithcott Farm, Dauntsey and are open Thursdays and Sundays from 10am to 2pm. If you love collectibles, car boots, vintage or anything antique get yourself down there.

Anyone fancy the vintage water skis? At least I think that's what they are!

It was wonderful at the Bristol Business Expo to meet up with Katie and Lewis from our client WestSpring IT, chat to them and have a biscuit! Huge thanks to Lewis for taking part in our fundraising for community project Ainslie's Pavilion. We raised £40 on the day - so thank you to all who took part. Believe me, every single penny goes to the cause and every penny counts.
