10 sweeps in one house a few weeks ago… 💪🏼💪🏼This stunning house in Beverley was undergoing a huge refurbishment but was originally built in 1724! That’s 118 years BEFORE climbing boys were prohibited! The practice of employing children was prohibited in 1842 although many still used their own children until around 1875 when a Chimney Sweepers Act was passed to police the industry.

After seeing my 100 push-ups a day in May for Cancer Reasearch I seem to have inspired our kids. They have decided to climb Ben Nevis in August (the biggest mountain in the U.K.) to raise money for Mountain Rescue. Sad day in the Chimney Genie Camp today... my old ‘Chimney Wagon’ has now been retired from Sweeping Service after 5 faithful years. I’ve had some amazing work/life adventures in this van over the years and had clocked up just short of 100k miles. Replaced with a newer Transit Custom which unfortunately let me down on the first day 🤦🏼‍♂️. Hopefully this isn’t going to be a regular thing moving forward...
On a more positive note my friend John of Window Genie will be treating her to a cleaner, more local life around the Brough area that she knows and loves so well.

2hr make over on a Jøtul stove today. cleaned down, degreased and resprayed with Senotherm ‘Metallic Schwartz’ high temperature paint as specified on Danish ‘Mørso’ stoves.
Customer was delighted with the results. Why not book in for your Spring stove makeover too?! 👌🏼🧞‍♂️
