We became 6! 😍

Feeling lucky to be in a position to be able to offer an a position at Chameleon, for hopefully a career and lots of opportunity to learn and grow. to Lesley Bell for matching us with a great candidate and making the whole process very easy through CT Skills πŸ₯°

It was lovely to meet up with our Abi on Tuesday too, Stacey Chandler & I went to meet baby Maya who is beautiful! πŸ‘ΆπŸΌπŸ’•

We are loving the team growing but the things that I am enjoying about it most weren't what I thought they would be! Seeing our team come together and offer ideas and really connect as a team is great, but when they share their passion for the future and say they want to be Compliance Managers and Environmental Managers, getting excited about these subjects and opportunities, that's what I am loving!

We have Mark Grubb on our FAA accredited courses alongside me now & , making amazing progress on fire risk assessments.

Andrew Riley showing genuine skills and interest in meaning it won't just be me, and wanting to complete his qualifications for Environmental Management

Stacey Chandler progressing towards taking her HR Qualifications, offering better solutions for us to manage accounts and payroll, and the apprentice already expressing an interest in Compliance.

Alongside Abi when she returns, I think we have the perfect blooming team!!! (I may be biased!)

We had a photoshoot on Friday too, and we are missing Abs while she is on maternity, and the new apprentice isn't quite with us yet, but this is the motley crew!!

Excited to announce we welcome an apprentice on board on Monday!

This is a great new avenue for us and we are excited to be in a position to offer a really good career and progression route to a new young person.

However, it is not lost on me how much benefit this has for us, it's a two way relationship and we feel lucky too! 🀩🀩

Another beautiful person to add to the Chameleon Consultancy future family and growth.

Let's have it!!! 🀣🀣🀩🀩❀️β™₯️

Today Andy and I went to meet with the lovely Space BuildingConsultancy Ltd in Birmingham for a gap analysis.

🟒 🟒 🟒 Let's talk boundaries 🟒 🟒 🟒

For those that know me, they know that I am a boundary pusher (there will be a few eyebrow raises and wry smiles at this).

I have always lived by 'how do you know where boundaries are if you don't push them?' Is pushing boundaries good, bad or both?

I will not deny, that in the past there have been times when I have tested boundaries to the hilt, and on reflection haven't always considered others enough in the process.

But where can we push boundaries for the greater good? If people didn't challenge and push boundaries we would rarely achieve change, we would always stay in the comfortable and lose sight of what is truly possible.

Over the last 5 years of having Chameleon Consultancy I have strived to analyse and improve my own boundary pushing approach and determine how it can be used for good.

I have learned:
🟒 Pushing boundaries can be a good thing, if done whilst maintaining your moral compass!
🟒 Can generate opportunity for learning through success (and failure)
🟒 Can help others to have confidence to go outside their comfort zone
🟒 Help you find your limit and allow you to operate safely within it.

How this has benefited me in business is immense. The first thing it has enabled me to do is understand my own approach to business and health and safety.
🟒 I expect more - standards are high and what is achievable in my mind, whilst being realistic, usually means setting higher goals.
🟒 Open doors for Clients to aim higher with what they can achieve with a very proactive and positive approach from us.
🟒 Enabled me to see I am not your usual 'risk averse' business woman or H&S person, I quite like a bit of (calculated) risk
🟒 Enabled me to push for more challenging goals, knowing my tenacity will mean I commit and follow it through (for myself or Client's).

The biggest thing it has taught me it that you have to keep other's interests at heart and if you are natural born boundary pusher, don't stamp all over others when trying to get where you want to go. Sometimes that isn't immediately obvious when you have tunnel visioned yourself towards the next big accomplishment!

Lastly, it has taught me that learning and growing in business isn't what I thought it was. I focused for the first few years on 'getting to know our clients', what they need, what makes them tick, how to help their success.
It was actually more about getting to know ME.

Self reflection
Self criticism
Holding yourself to account
Understanding natural traits of decision making, risk, impartiality, bias, compassion, values, ethics.

It isn't enough to know your clients. You have to first know yourself.
With this comes confidence, resilience and being able to give the best service possible.

Your weaknesses can also be your strengths, it's how you use them that determines which it is.

There have been a lot of changes here over the last 6 months with our team, but staff turnover isn't aways the bad thing it's painted to be. It seems a very different world recruiting today than it did 20 years ago and we needed outstanding people.

To be part of Chameleon, if we are to put our money where our mouth is and be what we say we are (nothing short of excellent!) then you need the right people to do it with.

Our Team as it is now, is the best it has ever been and I have finally managed to fulfil a longstanding wish of mine to work more closely with one of the best administrators I have ever met, Stacey.

When I met Stacey in 2018 she was the directors PA at a company I was supporting. I then continued to support that company when starting Chameleon Consultancy but they closed the company down around 2022/3 when the directors retired. Stacey continued with an associated company as Director, and remained a client.

We have always been friends, and on my visits would organise meeting for food and drinks each time.

Recently I learned that sadly the company was closing its doors, but it couldn't be the end of Stacey and I working together.

There was a huge opportunity to be had and we aproached Stacey about becoming part of the team as our PA to Directors / Administration Manager - a role we struggled to fill well for some time.

She said YES 🀩

Please welcome my amazing friend, colleague, right hand woman and all round good egg Stacey Chandler

Our team (until we need another consultant!) is compete ❀️❀️❀️

WOW!! How did this happen? 🀩🀩🀩

5 years ago, I embarked on a journey, alone having no idea what to expect.

It was the tail end of covid still, and I couldn't drive due to a medical condition so as a nationwide consultancy it was a little tricky!

I did everything I could to make it work, to succeed, because I couldn't stand the thought of failure!

It has been a journey of ups a d downs, a lot of hard work and stress, but it's changed me as a person and shown me what my strengths and weaknesses are.

Then last year, along comes Mark Grubb to share this crazy journey with me as we continue to grow and evolve, refining our practice and what we offer as we grow.

So Proud and Grateful for this opportunity in life!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BABY!!!

Thank you to everyone that has been a part of this, however distant or small, I truly appreciate you. ❀️

FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT AND THE COMPETENCY FRAMEWORK
I promised I would follow up with a for for those that asked about this subject.

I am NOT the highest trained fire risk assessor ever to have been but I do feel able to comment on this.

With the huge influx I have seen with people running out to get their hands on the higher level training for fire riskassesment it jas brought with it some concerns for me.

so this is my advice and h'apennys worth.
