What we’re actually into this month. 🗝️

This month we’re sharing the hotel our own team can’t stop recommending right now, the city break we’d take ourselves given the chance, and a look at what September actually has us doing behind the scenes.

Marrakesh in September still holds its heat, and that is rather the point. Think atmospheric riads tucked behind unassuming doors, food that lingers in the memory and the Atlas Mountains rising just beyond the city. A world away, without the long haul flight.

Porto in September still carries the last of the summer warmth, perfect for long lunches and evenings by the river. It also marks the start of harvest season in the Douro Valley, so we would pair a few nights in the city with a private trip inland for vineyard visits, wine tasting and a leisurely cruise along the river.

Palma is not the obvious choice for a September city break, and that is exactly its appeal. The Old Town is full of converted boutique hotels and quiet corners, with some late season sun thrown in for good measure.

With ski booking season now underway, L’Apogée Courchevel is where we would start. An Oetker Collection address in Courchevel, built for those already thinking about the snow.

The Peninsula Paris is our pick this month, particularly with fashion week around the corner. A timeless property with elegant interiors, a central location and service that stands out even among Paris’s grandest addresses.

Can Bordoy sits behind a discreet façade in Palma’s La Lonja quarter, a restored twelfth century building holding just twenty four suites. The largest private garden in the city centre wraps around a heated pool, while a glass bottomed plunge pool on the roof looks out over the Old Town and the cathedral beyond.

Capella Bangkok sits on the banks of the Chao Phraya, combining the energy of the city with the feel of a secluded riverside retreat. The private pool villas are the draw, alongside a kitchen and level of service that has made it one of the most talked about hotels in Thailand.

5 reasons to host your next incentive trip in Budapest. ✈️ 🌃

1. A hotel your group won't want to leave.�W Budapest sits inside the Drechsler Palace on Andrássy Avenue, a former ballet institute with its original stained glass and arched doorways restored rather than replaced. Below the lobby, AWAY Spa takes its design cues from Houdini: hidden doors, mirrored corridors, and a pool dressed in the tiles and gold detailing of Budapest's own thermal bath tradition. Not every incentive venue gives a group somewhere to properly switch off.

2. A backdrop that does the work for you.�Seven centuries of history sit on top of Castle Hill, directly across the river. You don't need to dress a room to impress a group when the city itself is doing the heavy lifting.

3. A closing night that's hard to top.�An evening cruise on the Danube turns dinner into something else entirely: Parliament lit from the water, the castle catching the last light, Chain Bridge holding the whole city together. It's the kind of night attendees are still talking about back home.

4. Getting around is part of the experience.�The tram runs right along the Danube and is considered one of the most scenic tram rides in the world, passing Parliament, Chain Bridge, and views of the Castle without ever leaving your seat. A city where transfers between sessions look like this isn't asking much of anyone's schedule.

5. A destination that still feels considered, not overused.�Budapest isn't the obvious first name on every shortlist, which is exactly why it lands well with a group.

A weekend at 🛥️ 🌿

Not a full itinerary. Just the version we'd actually build.

Enea and Maria Gandola opened this hotel in 1910, after years spent touring Europe's finest properties and deciding they could build something to rival all of them. It's still family run, over a century later, and it still looks like it.

The pool is the reason most people first hear about this place, and it earns the reputation. It floats directly on Lake Como itself, reached by a short wooden bridge from the sun deck, with Bellagio and the mountains sitting across the water the entire time you're in it.

Dinner on the terrace, facing the lake, as the light changes over Bellagio. Nothing about the evening needs planning beyond being there for it.

A dinner setting most venues can’t compete with ✨

sits on Monte Mario, the highest hill in Rome, roughly 150 metres above the city. Built in 1837 for the noble Miani family as their retreat above Rome’s heat and noise, it’s spent nearly two centuries looking down at the skyline it was built to escape. By evening, that’s exactly the point. The terrace faces St. Peter’s dome directly, and as the sun drops behind the Vatican, the whole city turns gold before settling into the lights beneath the table.

Our take on where to stay, where to eat, and what's actually worth your time in one of our favourite recommendations right now. 🗺️

This is the same guide we'd hand a client planning this exact trip. Not everything the destination offers, just the parts worth building a trip around: the hotel we'd book without hesitating, the table we'd reserve before anything else, and the one or two things actually worth leaving the room for.

Castelfalfi. An eight hundred year old hamlet in the hills between Florence and Pisa, restored rather than reinvented.

Stay in La Tabaccaia, the estate's former to***co warehouse, now a handful of suites with more character than anything in the main hotel. Eat at La Rocca, inside the medieval castle itself, where the menu follows whatever's actually in season on the estate. And before anything else, walk the vineyards. The wine tasting here isn't an add on. It's the reason more than a few of our clients quietly extend their stay by another night.

The Aspire Guide to Mykonos. 🏛️

Little Venice was built in the eighteenth century by merchants and sea captains, with balconies constructed to hang directly over the water so goods could be loaded and unloaded without ever touching the shore. The resemblance to Venice's own canals is exactly where the name came from.

A short walk from there, and a very different kind of story: before Santa Marina was a resort, it was a windmill, a pigeon house, and a small chapel dedicated to Saint Marina. The name never changed. Everything around it did.

Take the boat out and the island next door tells its own story entirely. Delos has no permanent residents at all. In antiquity it was considered the most sacred place in the Greek world, and its mythology names it as the birthplace of Apollo himself. It's a half day away from the beach, and one of the only places nearby where the whole island is essentially one continuous archaeological site.

Back on Mykonos, on private sand at Santa Marina, Buddha-Bar is living out its Aegean chapter. The concept began in Paris and has since become its own global name, and this version of it sits on the only private sandy beach on the island.

Four places, four very different histories, and none of them the version of Mykonos most people actually see.

✨ Above the rooftops of Nice's Old Town sits a hotel with an unusual past. Hôtel du Couvent occupies a convent built in 1604 by the nuns of the Order of Saint Claire, left empty for decades before a decade long restoration brought it back to life in 2024. Much of its original character remains, terracotta floors, cloistered gardens and a resident herbalist, alongside additions like Roman baths and an on-site bakery where the flour is still milled by hand.

Days here move slowly. Lunch is taken beneath market umbrellas in the courtyard, afternoons pass in the shade of a fig tree or beside the pool, and evenings settle in without much need to leave the grounds.
