The programme is funded by Public Health Agency and led by CDHN’s Stephanie Houston, Patricia Harte and Eleanor McKenna, along with the Elevate Mentors: Supporting Communities ARC HEALTHY LIVING CENTRE LIMITED, WOMENSTEC and Mid & East Antrim Agewell Partnership

The Community Mentoring and Grants Programme is for groups who are ready to tackle health inequalities using community development approaches. Successful groups will receive a grant of up to £5,000 and take part in training and networking opportunities throughout.

This new Learning Zone resource explains how a community development approach differs from traditional case-based social work by providing guidance on how social workers can embed values like social justice, empowerment, collective action, anti-discrimination, and equality in their everyday work.

Take time to individually or as a small team to go through the resource and reflect on what might a community-development approach might look like in your day-to-day practice.
