Going back to 1990 my parents started a small business called Mary Poppins balloons (based in the West Midlands), This was when balloons had become a massive craze for the wedding industry. I was still at school but loved being part of the set up on a weekend, visiting lots of amazing wedding venues this was every young girls dream! I even got to meet Prince Charles, Jamie Oliver and Ruby Wax. In
my last year of school I applied to The Black Balloon Company for work experience, (anyone in the Balloon industry will know David Saker!) this was a two week apprenticeship set up through my school. The company had two retail outlets and I was based in the "Balloons 'n' Things" Shop in the center of Birmingham. I soon realised this was not a 9 till 5 job.... I loved every second of it! After my work experience was finished I was offered a permanent position. Juggling my GCSE's and working 7 days a week was hard, but the balloon bug had bitten! During my time there I got to work on some amazing events, Barclaycard Premiership football balloon releases all over the country (I got to stand on the pitch with David Beckham), I worked on the London Marathon for 3 years in a row, and got to decorate lots of corporate events (my second home became the NEC & Hilton Metropole). The company expanded and purchased a balloon print machine.... I got sent on a training program and this was just another part of the business I excelled in. I relocated to Devon where I met my Husband, I gave up balloons for a few years to set up home and have a family. I'm now ready to relaunch as Mary Poppins balloons (taking over the family name). We are about taking decor to the next level, we are about making your party, function or event something that everyone will talk about. If you are after cheap balloons, we know that there are places that you can find them (you will probably find they don't float as long...) We are not expensive, in fact far from it, we only use the highest quality latex balloons from Qualatex®, we are skilled professionals at creating beautiful decor at a price that is more than reasonable.
