What a Brilliant Day! 🐝☀️

I headed to Shropshire Beekeepers Association today, and after the rain started, we honestly didn’t think we’d get the chance to open the hives. But then the sun came out, the temperature warmed up, and we were in luck! ☀️🐝

We had a look inside the Walker Health and Safety Services hive and were delighted to spot the queen, along with plenty of brood and eggs — a fantastic sign of a happy, healthy and thriving hive. 👑🍯

We also added boards to the bottom of the hives so we can monitor for varroa mites and keep a close eye on the colony’s health.

From rain to sunshine and a successful hive inspection — what a brilliant afternoon! 🌦️🐝🌼

Also!! New boots!!! 🩷🌸

Walker Health and Safety has posted a new blog, 'Fire Extinguishers – Your First Line of Defence in a Fire'

When a fire breaks out, every second counts. Having the correct fire extinguisher in the right place can make the difference between a minor incident and a devastating fire. However, having an extinguisher isn’t enough – it must be the correct type, properly maintained, and users should know when and how to use it safely.

Health and safety training ensures employees understand hazards, know how to work safely, and can respond effectively when something goes wrong. It’s the foundation of a safe workplace and a legal obligation under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, which requires employers to provide “information, instruction, training and supervision” to protect staff.

Hi Everyone
I support and volunteer with Shropshire Beekeepers Association, and I always welcome anyone who’d like to join me at the apiary, say hello to the bees and buy some of their honey.
There’s always something to repair, replace or improve at the apiary, and every bit of support genuinely makes a difference.
Shropshire Bees Association relies on donations to keep the hives healthy, maintain equipment and continue the work that protects our local bee population 🍯
If you’re able to help — even £5 — it goes straight into supporting the bees and the volunteers who care for them.
You can donate here: 🐞

Thank you for supporting our bees and the work that keeps them thriving. 🐝

Work-life balance done right. 🌊☀️

A day off spent exactly how it should be with chips by the seaside, and a cheeky ice cream with my husband, a lovely walk along the coast, and even managed to catch a bit of sunshine! ☀️🍦

Back home, I finished the day with a wander around the Wrekin with my friend, Kerry. Sometimes it’s the simple days that turn out to be the best.

Feeling refreshed, grateful, and ready for whatever tomorrow brings. ❤️

As we roll into 20th July, that magical time of year when half the workforce is either on annual leave, thinking about annual leave, or mentally already on a beach somewhere, it’s a good moment to remind ourselves of a few summer safety basics.
