Firefighters from Freiwillige Feuerwehr Markt Schliersee, Germany, responding to a fire on a boat. Upon their arrival, the boat was moored at the dock. No open flames were visible. A team equipped with breathing apparatus proceeded to investigate. The cause was a smoldering fire in the boat's cable harness. They disconnected the batteries and inspected the area using a thermal imaging camera. The operation concluded successfully after approximately two hours.

Firefighters from Bomberos de El Salvador extinguished a fire at a scrapyard located on the road leading to the Palo Galán settlement, 📍 in the Santa María district, municipality of Usulután Este, Usulután, El Salvador.

In their own words 🧑‍🚒 👉 We carried out control, extinguishment, and mop-up operations, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby areas.

Let's talk about the silent threat. The fact that firefighters not only have to battle flames and smoke, but also life threatening diseases.

On a fire scene the actual fire, toxic smoke, and the risk of a collapse are far from the only dangers. Today we know that carcinogens from the fire contaminate turnout gear and SCBA’s. As a result, thousands of firefighters are diagnosed with cancer every year. In fact, cancer caused 70% of the line-of-duty deaths for career firefighters in 2016.

So what can we do? The answer is: a lot! Not only do we need to raise awareness, but our job as a product developer is to make the equipment as safe to use as possible. At Interspiro, equipment decontamination have been a high priority for a long time and our Incurve is the worlds most cleanable firefighting system. Together we will defeat work-related cancer in the fire service.
