In the Philippines a lot of fruit and veg is considerably more expensive than meat.

For example, at the supermarket this week I could purchase:

🍗 1kg of chicken breast for ~200pesos / £3
🍓 400g strawberries was ~350pesos / £5

LB for £ the strawberries were 4 times more expensive!

And they were local strawberries, imported ones were even more.

➡️ In a country with millions considered low earners, how do residents afford to make healthy, more sustainable choices?

🍟 Fast food is so dangerously cheap, and fruit and vegetables almost unaffordable.

💚 What are the options? How are other countries managing this?

Have you read our blog post about this?

https://papartnership.com/is-sustainability-just-for-high-earners/

Does this sound like you:

- Placing your fruit and veg in reusable netted drawstring bags you invested £4
- Sip on ice old water from your Chilly’s bottle ordered during the summer for £18,
- Treating yourself to an oat milk latte in the Keep Cup you bought for £10,
- Lugging all the shopping into the boot of your Tesla and silently driving home?

Let's get the conversation started, do you think it's inevitable to spend money to be more sustainable?

Who do you turn to for answers about sustainability?

Recent years have seen a huge shift in headlines about forgoing meat for the sake of the planet.

But what about fruit and veg that’s unsustainably farmed?

It can feel really overwhelming.

For every argument to eat avocados there’s one against it, the same for salmon, for chicken, for coconut oil.

🌍 How do you feel about investing in sustainable items?

💷 Thinking about coffee cups, metal straws, shopping bags, even a moon cup - these items you and the planet usually see no immediate environmental benefit and the cost of some products can be x5 or x10 the price for the initial outlay.

💚 For some this will never be attainable, so we'd encourage the investment when possible.

🎁 What's the BEST sustainable item you've ever invested in?

If a potential client asked you to jump on a call in 10 minutes - would you be able to talk about your business well enough?

You can't talk about your business enough, especially as we are always evolving as Assistants and adapting services.

I've been meeting lots of new people at the moment who ask what I do for a living, and it's made me get really clear on my services, on who my clients are and how I operate.

Practice with other Assistants, with your friends and family ...anyone that will listen! Writing it down and saying it out loud can be so helpful to get more confidence in your business.

For new VA's - are you confident talking about your services?

✈️ Do you book business class flights for clients?

🌍 We all know business has a more devastating impact on the environment that economy, and many will carbon offset, but do you know the prices?

💰 Flying from the UK to the Philippines in business costs ~£150 to compensate whereas in economy the price is ~£100.

❎ We are told that business can be up to 5 times more damaging to the environment than economy, but this price doesn't seem to reflective.

💺 What are your thoughts on business class travel, happy to book or would you prefer economy?

Are you curled up at your desk like a croissant?

Check in with yourself 🥐

Stand up, move around, have a good stretch!

Posture is something so many of us take for granted even when we spend 10+ hours a day hunched over a laptop!

Strength building and posture is 100% within our control.

How much does a VA business cost?

£100? £500? £1000?

If you're just starting out, here are the financial investments you'll need to think about:

💶 Salary & living costs
💷 Tax
💵 Pension
💶 IT setup (and savings for replacements)
💷 Online Apps and systems (this don't need to be huge)
💵 Training / Coaching / Education / Qualifications

From all you established VA's - what else would you add to this list for newbies?
