The Trust Partnership

From the beginning we’ve had a particular idea about how we might build The Trust Partnership; that by finding the natural abilities in the people who join us, patiently nurturing them in a supportive environment, and constantly learning from each other, we could build a team of highly skilled foundation administrators and clerks to trustees.

Now 20 years since we were founded, we wanted to know more about how this concept has fared. How do patience, kindness and forgiveness (all Biblical descriptions of love) build a team? We bumped into our former colleague Sarah Bennett at the House of Commons last week. Sarah was a superb employee who developed from being an administrator into an excellent Clerk to Trustees, and we supported her when she started her MSc in Grantmaking, Philanthropy and Social Investment. Jill Lawrence, too, is now building on her brilliant credentials, and has today started her studies for a Certificate in Charity Law and Governance with the Chartered Governance Institute. We’re very proud to know you both.

During lockdown (all those years ago) we started a little tree tapestry together! Team members would spend an hour or two merrily stitching the pattern with multicoloured wool, and then post it on to another member of staff. Well, it's taken some time but we finally have it finished and it's going up on the wall in our office! Feels good to collaborate, get it done, and it looks great!

One of the amazing things about working in the philanthropy/ foundation sector is that one gets to meet and work with amazing people. Last weekend I travelled to Dublin where I’m a trustee of the Irish Online Giving Foundation. It disburses about €3m per annum, mostly contributed by some of Ireland’s largest employers and their staff. And I got to meet and work with some incredibly knowledgeable and lovely people like Liz, Sue, Siobhan, Robert and Raphael, all providing their expertise voluntarily. And I had the rare pleasure of seeing Ashley, who works out of Calgary. Few people have the depth and breadth of her knowledge in international giving. Working together to support charities in Ireland is so rewarding!

This morning I walked over Windmill Hill from Culkerton to our offices at Trull and had this beautiful view of where we work. A lovely stroll in the early sunshine through fields of blue chicory, with the added bonus that the blackberries are starting to ripen.

We’re so excited to announce that our lovely team member, Tracey, was married on the 17th of May surrounded by friends and family, before jetting off on honeymoon to Sardinia. Congratulations Mr and Mrs John Warner!

Here is what we heard from our most recent employee survey!

Our employees highlighted that the Trust Partnership offers a diverse range of work and that they “would and do encourage others [to join] when positions arise.” They appreciated that their personal suggestions have been implemented, as well as the fact that they work for a company that has a B Corp certification.
What was noted most consistently was that the “working culture is superb” with overwhelming support professionally and personally from the team, management, and from technical support who will “go out of their way” to help with any issues. Every single participant answered ‘yes’ to the fact that their line manager and people at work care about them as a person, with one employee who emphasised this, saying “we are an incredibly close team, the people do make the job!”

Finally, our employees felt that “it is an important job, helping others, and is a joy to be part of.”
Well, it’s a joy to work with such wonderful people who give so much of their time and talents to our enterprise. Thanks to everyone who took time to complete the survey and gave us feedback. If you would like to join our team, we are currently looking for an Assistant Office Manager.

Starfish would like to thank Andrea & her colleagues at UBC Cirencester & Trust Partnership, Claire & Alison all of which have recently donated to us its very very kind to think of us at this difficult time and very appreciated by future dogs we will be helping.

Although quiet we will be helping any urgent local dogs or people that may need support or help in this difficult weeks.
