First post of the year — and we’re starting close to home, with a project completed in Thatcham, where we’re based and where our HQ is.
We’ve completed a new Mono® shelter installation across the town, with six new shelters now in place — including three with green living roofs.
What’s especially good to see is that these are all at stops where there wasn’t a shelter before, so passengers now have proper cover and a much more welcoming place to wait, particularly in wintery weather. The sedum green roofs also add small pockets of nature to the streetscape, supporting biodiversity and helping with air quality and rainwater management.
And it’s been great to hear local feedback too. As Cllr Stephanie Steevenson, a Thatcham resident and Town & District Councillor, said : the shelters are “really noticeable”, “look great”, and the green roofs are “a great touch for the environment”.
We’ll share more soon about the wider West Berkshire programme, but for now it’s brilliant to see the difference these new shelters are already making in Thatcham.
We design the Mono® range to be modular, helping keep a consistent look and feel across an entire shelter estate — with a clear pathway to scale up to Mono Neighbourhood® and Mono Superhub® where future sites need it, and where more functionality and features are required.
