A narrow footway, a tricky junction, and no nearby street lighting. Westerham Town Council came to us with a clear picture of exactly what they were dealing with — that kind of preparation makes all the difference.

The result? A striking bus shelter with solar-powered lighting perfectly suited to the location - and that was used straight away!

"It does look great and it will be a real asset to the town." — Jo O'Sullivan, Westerham Town Council

Really lovely to see this kind of positive feedback from a member of the local community. Made in Dunstable

Hearing that the bus stops “present themselves beautifully” and help “improve the standard of travel” is a real positive, and a great reflection on the value of good passenger infrastructure.

We were pleased to work in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council, delivering upgraded waiting environments including our Mono® shelters.

First post of the year — and we’re starting close to home, with a project completed in Thatcham, where we’re based and where our HQ is.

We’ve completed a new Mono® shelter installation across the town, with six new shelters now in place — including three with green living roofs.

What’s especially good to see is that these are all at stops where there wasn’t a shelter before, so passengers now have proper cover and a much more welcoming place to wait, particularly in wintery weather. The sedum green roofs also add small pockets of nature to the streetscape, supporting biodiversity and helping with air quality and rainwater management.

And it’s been great to hear local feedback too. As Cllr Stephanie Steevenson, a Thatcham resident and Town & District Councillor, said : the shelters are “really noticeable”, “look great”, and the green roofs are “a great touch for the environment”.

We’ll share more soon about the wider West Berkshire programme, but for now it’s brilliant to see the difference these new shelters are already making in Thatcham.

We design the Mono® range to be modular, helping keep a consistent look and feel across an entire shelter estate — with a clear pathway to scale up to Mono Neighbourhood® and Mono Superhub® where future sites need it, and where more functionality and features are required.

—this is exactly the kind of story we all need.

We were contacted by Councillor Chrissie Bainbridge (Porchester Castle Ward, Hampshire) today about a Facebook post she'd seen:

“This absolute gentleman took off his own rain jacket to dry the bench at the bus stop that got wet as he was washing the shelter windows. All so an older lady could sit down - someone at the council give this man a Christmas bonus!!!! At portchester precinct!”

Cllr Bainbridge wanted to make sure this simple act of kindness was acknowledged and after a bit of digging, we were really pleased to share that this “absolute gentleman” is Alfie—an employee of Hallmark civil engineering ltd, one of our long-term shelter cleaning partners.

Alfie, thank you. That simple, considerate gesture—done without a second thought—clearly struck a chord with the community.

And to Hallmark civil engineering ltd—this is exactly why we value working with you. Professional, flexible, and helpful people who quietly do the right thing.

If you were the one who snapped the photo and helped shine a light on this, thank you too.

At 11am on the 11th of November, we will join the nation in observing the two-minute silence, remembering all who have served and sacrificed — and those who continue to do so today.

Our Operations Director, Craig Walker, a Veteran who marched at the Cenotaph this year, shared what this time means to him:

“Remembrance is not just one day in November for me, it’s every day. During my 22 years in the Army I served in combat zones and lost friends and colleagues, some in conflict and some afterwards to struggles like PTSD, which I also live with. This year I attended the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, and on Sunday I marched past the Cenotaph for the fourth time. It was a moment of deep reflection, standing with veterans of all generations as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those still carrying visible and invisible wounds.”

Many of our colleagues and their families have strong links to the Armed Forces, and we’re proud to support that community as signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant and holders of the Bronze Employer Recognition Scheme Award.

Today, and every day, we honour the courage of those who serve, remember those we’ve lost, and think of all who are affected by conflict across the world.

A big win for community football — and not just on the scoreboard! ⚽💙

We’ve donated and installed two brand-new player shelters at Chipping Norton Swifts FC Greystones ground. Finished in the club’s colours and featuring integrated cup holders, they’re already providing much-needed cover for players and coaches as the winter weather sets in.

This one’s especially close to our hearts — both Beth Heron and Craig Walker from our team are regulars at the club, watching Beth's daughter play in the U13 girls’ team. The team started their season with an amazing 10–0 win, then went along to the Greystones ground to check out the new shelters and gave them their full seal of approval! 👏

It’s great to give something back to the communities in which we live and work, especially when it's a club that means so much to our team — helping to keep grassroots football going strong in Oxfordshire.

Better bus stops for Central Bedfordshire

We’ve been working with Central Bedfordshire Council to install brand-new Mono Neighbourhood Shelters and refurbish and relocate existing ones — helping make sure more communities have access to comfortable, accessible, and welcoming places to wait for the bus.

Across the region — from Houghton Regis to Sandy and Dunstable — these improvements are creating safer, more sustainable spaces that support everyday journeys.

It’s also been great to get creative along the way! One refurbished shelter has found a wild new home outside Whipsnade Zoo, complete with zebra stripes 🦓 — check out our recent post: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/16aFMKpR2F/ to see this shelter in all its glory!

From Supermarket to Safari: A Bus Shelter with a Twist!

A previously unremarkable shelter outside a supermarket in Houghton Regis has found a wild new home – just outside Whipsnade Zoo! 🛠️🦓

Thanks to DfT BSIP funding and a creative eye from our Sales Director, what started as a refurbishment project for Central Bedfordshire Council became an opportunity for bold design – complete with zebra stripes and a custom-themed bus stop flag.

Another example of clever re-use of public transport infrastructure that doesn’t compromise on personality.

We’ve just installed a new 6-bay Mono shelter for Reading Buses at Calcot Retail Centre — over 7 metres long for extra space and comfort. 🙌

We handled the lot: groundworks, delivery, installation and traffic management. Delivery day turned heads — the 7m shelter arrived on a flatbed and was lifted into place!

Built for optimum passenger flow: two front bays open on approach, one open at exit, a central 4-bay bench with handles, and fully glazed, with a barrel-vault roof for daylight and weather protection.

We’re proud to support Reading Buses as we all keep .

And a shout-out to their people too — this focus on customer experience shows on the road as well, with driver Alma Cox shortlisted for 'Top National Bus Driver' at the 2025 UK BUS AWARDS. 👏
