The Canon Dream Lens - almost every photographer that has searched for fast lenses with a signature look will know about them. The Canon Lens 50mm f/0.95 lens almost always tops the list when it comes to fast & exotic optics. Known for its dream-like glow & razor thin depth of field, the f/0.95 aperture lets massive amounts of light in, whilst retaining an artistic & pleasing image quality.

What could be better than one of these beautiful lenses for sale? Three. 😉

In Flints Auctions Fine Photographica sale on the 29th of April at 10:00 BST (9:00AM GMT) we offer three lots containing a version of the Canon dream lens: lots 164, 165, & 185. These lots are available to browse now at Flintsauctions.com

For those hawk-eyed lens collectors & photographers that noticed one of these mounted to a Leica M camera - lot 185 has been converted to Leica M mount with RF coupling. Lots 164 & 165 offer the lens in original Canon 7 mount - with the Canon 7 rangefinder camera attached.

Flints Auctions Fine Photographica is live & ready to accept your pre-bids, queries, & for viewing by appointment. We look forward to taking your bids live on the 29th April 10:00 BST at flintsauctions.com

The Alpa series of SLR/Rangefinder cameras were produced by Pignons S.A. In Switzerland from the early 1940s until the company wound down SLR production in the 1980s

Various sources claim that there were approximately 40,000 or so Alpa cameras made during this period, an extremely low number of cameras when compared to their big-named competitors. This makes the Alpa series of cameras both extremely collectible, & an absolute joy to use. When Nikon & Canon were offering multi-programmed computer-driven auto focus SLR systems, Pignons refused to enter the modern world, focusing on making mechanical masterpieces in an era which That saw photographers all too readily switch over to a new way of thinking, & a new way of making photographs.

One thing that I have found to be most interesting regarding Alpa cameras is the extensive range of unusual supporting accessories & very low number runs of specialist cameras - something that contemporary manufacturers were not fond of doing.

That & rangefinder SLRs should still be a thing.

All of the Alpa cameras shown here will be available in Flints Auction’s Fine Photographica sale - April 2026 including a Black Alpa 9f (16 produced), an Alpa 4b (93 built, produced until 1989), an Alpa 11es (22 produced), an Alpa 11e 50 Jubilé, & other rare & unusual examples.
