It's that period between Christmas and New Year when many are on holiday, enjoying family time. However, there's still an army of people, typically in retail and hospitality, the emergency services and utilities who are working. So here's recognition and a to those people, including our own waste and recycling collection and processing crews, out on the road, in transfer stations and HWRCs.

Scrap A+ to C grade wood is welcome with collection available or delivery to one of our waste transfer stations. Mixed loads will be graded according to the lowest grade contained in the mix as determined by Yorwaste.

Yorwaste has changed its incoming telephone call handling. From today, you will be given three options:
Option 1 - Customer Services with further options as illustrated.
Option 2 - Accounts with further options as illustrated.
Option 3 - Switchboard for other enquiries or if you know the extension you require.
This should get you to the department you need more quickly. We'd welcome your feedback on the new incoming call handling.

A commercial partnership between Yorwaste and Acumen Waste Services is resulting in Acumen taking over the day-to-day running of Yorwaste's liquid waste treatment facility on the outskirts of York and as part of this Acumen will be investing £500,000 in the facility.

A Yorkshire council has seized a tipper van that was seen fly-tipping large amounts of commercial and domestic waste, which had to be removed “at significant cost”.

Thanks to an anonymous tip off from the public and work by the CCTV team, council staff were able to identify the vehicle. With help from the police, council staff seized the van.

The council will be looking to prosecute the offenders. Maximum penalty upon conviction is an unlimited fine or up to five years in prison and the van will be disposed of, either by selling or crushing.
