Zohaib Hussain, 30, has been jailed for five years after police discovered a loaded fi***rm hidden in a bush during a search in Sheffield.

On Monday, September 14, officers on patrol spotted a Land Rover Defender travelling at high speed along Staniforth Road. They began pursuing the vehicle until the driver abandoned it on Olivers Drive and ran down a nearby alleyway, where they caught up with Hussain.

During the pursuit, one of the officers saw Hussain disappear into a bush. After detaining him, officers searched the area and found a black bag containing a revolver loaded with three live rounds of am******on. Body-worn camera footage captured officers discovering the weapon. Hussain was arrested and subsequently charged with possessing a fi***rm and possessing am******on for a fi***rm without a certificate.

On Tuesday, October 27, Hussain, of Huntsman Road, Sheffield, was sentenced to five years after pleading guilty to both offences at Sheffield Crown Court. South Yorkshire Police said the discovery was down to the determination of two response officers who continued pursuing Hussain after he abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, leading to the discovery of the loaded revolver.

Videos of Mount Stuart on the Isle of Bute where you can see Victorian ambition on a remarkable scale. Its red sandstone exterior gives you some idea of what lies inside, but the marble interiors and extraordinary attention to detail take it to another level.

The original Georgian house was devastated by fire in 1877. The 3rd Marquess of Bute commissioned architect Robert Rowand Anderson to create the magnificent Gothic mansion seen today, incorporating the surviving Georgian wings. This was a man with the resources to turn his imagination into stone.

Inside, the Marble Hall’s ceiling maps the stars overhead. Astrology, mythology and religious symbolism run through the design, making the building as much an expression of its owner’s interests as a family home. The white marble chapel adds another extraordinary layer to the house.

For all its medieval inspiration, Mount Stuart embraced modern technology. It was the first house in Scotland lit by electricity, with central heating, a passenger lift and a heated indoor swimming pool. Behind the Gothic grandeur was a thoroughly forward-looking home.

A striking piece of Bute’s history. The craftsmanship alone gives you plenty to stop and consider. Then comes the bigger question: how much imagination, labour and ambition went into creating somewhere like this?
