Landmarc provides the support services that enable Armed Forces from around the world to prepare for frontline military operations across the UK Defence Training Estate. This includes maintaining and delivering safe and sustainable infrastructure, managing and operating training areas and ranges and delivering multi-million pound projects to improve vital training assets. Landmarc's 24 hour National Service Centre (NSC) also provides a single national point of contact for any user of the UK Defence Training Estate and the general public to answer queries, report break-downs or raise service requests.

TRAINING AREA MANAGER
This is a varied operational role combining estate management, contractor coordination, stakeholder engagement and health & safety oversight. Working closely with military customers and internal teams, you'll help deliver high-quality training environments while driving continuous improvement across the estate.
📍Castlemartin Camp, Pembroke, Pembrokeshire

TEAM LEADER
Leading a team of Operatives, you'll be responsible for coordinating day-to-day activities, supporting range operations, and maintaining training areas, infrastructure and equipment to the required standards. This is a hands-on role, with much of your time spent working alongside your team across a varied outdoor environment.

SITE MANAGER
This is a diverse leadership role where you'll be responsible for managing a site and overseeing a multi-skilled team and ensuring facilities remain safe, compliant and ready to support military training.
📍Pembrey Sands Air Weapons Range, Burry Port, Carmarthenshire

SITE OPERATIVE
In this role, you will be responsible for looking after the Training Estate facilities, typical tasks will include cleaning accommodation blocks, and maintaining the grounds and buildings to ensure a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to stay while they train.

As we come to the end of National Cadets Week, it is important to celebrate the people helping to develop the next generation of our Armed Forces Community.

As the Defence Investment Plan (DIP) builds on the Strategic Defence Review (SDR), the Government is expanding the cadet force to strengthen the relationship between defence and wider society.

Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) give their time to mentor and support young people to develop key skills, qualifications and experience to support their future education and careers.

Initiatives such as the X-Forces Enterprise Cadets in Enterprise programme help participants build commercial and innovative thinking skills, strengthening the future UK workforce.

Landmarc is proud to support the Armed Forces Community including CFAVs and the Cadets in Enterprise programme as part of the wider effort to expand opportunities for young people through the cadet forces.

Last night we joined colleagues from across the sector at the IWFM Impact Awards, where Landmarc was a finalist in two categories:

⭐ Social Value, recognising our work with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity and X-Forces Enterprise to support the Armed Forces community through transitional mentoring, business and employment opportunities.
⭐ Armed Forces Veteran in FM, recognising our colleague Will Leatherbarrow and the contribution he makes to the Defence Training Estate.

Reaching the final in both categories was a welcome recognition of the commitment behind this work, from colleagues sharing their time and experience as mentors to veterans applying their skills in civilian careers.

Thank you to Will, our colleagues and our partners for everything you do to turn that commitment into practical support for the Armed Forces community.

Congratulations to all this year’s winners and finalists and thank you to the IWFM team for bringing us together to celebrate the achievements of our sector.

What difference can a mentor make when someone leaves the Armed Forces? Hearing directly from mentees at this year’s SSAFA mentoring conference brought home the impact of that support.

Through our seven year partnership with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, Landmarc supports its transitional mentoring service and annual conference, with colleagues also volunteering as mentors.

The conference brought mentors together for two insightful and challenging days of learning. Working through beneficiary scenarios, sharing experiences and hearing directly from mentees provided valuable opportunities to reflect on their approach and build confidence.

Vicky Burnett, one of Landmarc’s volunteer SSAFA mentors, said, "Hearing mentees describe their journeys and how life changing their mentoring experience had been was inspiring. We also gained practical information and tools to help us respond to any mental health challenges we may encounter.

“Signposting people to specialist support is an important part of our role, so learning about Combat Stress's work supporting veterans with PTSD was particularly helpful. I’ve come away with more confidence and feeling inspired to continue.”

Thank you to Clare Bain, Aaron Clark and the SSAFA Mentoring team for organising such a rewarding couple of days and to the mentors and mentees who shared their stories so openly. Their experiences reminded us why this work matters.

Becoming a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer (CFAV) is a chance to learn something new.

Progressing from a gliding scholarship to his first solo flight and then qualifying as an instructor, is a highlight of Tim’s time with the Cadet Forces, giving him the opportunity to help others develop their confidence, resilience and flying skills.

In our final video for today, Tim shares what made that experience so rewarding.

Next up for : Meet Tim Barley, Head of Health & Safety at Landmarc and a Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer (CFAV) with the RAF Air Cadets in the South West.

Tim is an instructor on a specialist training team covering small arms, range management and skill at arms instruction. His courses welcome volunteers from across the RAF Air Cadets, Army Cadets, Sea Cadets and Volunteer Cadet Corps.

Building Defence’s future means investing in people alongside technology and infrastructure. Cadet forces are an important part of that future, helping young people develop confidence, leadership and teamwork while strengthening connections between Defence and our communities.

At Landmarc, we want to help those young people take their skills further. So, as the first National Cadets Week begins, we are pleased to announce our sponsorship of a cadet cohort taking part in theX-Forces Enterprise ‘Cadets in Enterprise’ programme, delivered in partnership with the Soldiering On Academy.

The programme gives cadets the chance to develop business ideas, test their thinking and explore where the skills they use as cadets might help them in their future careers. By sponsoring a cohort, we are helping a group of cadets access that experience and support.

Managing Director Mark Neill said, “National Cadet Week is a chance to recognise the commitment of cadets and the volunteers who support them. Young people develop valuable skills through the cadet movement and employers can help them see where those skills might lead. We have already opened our Guaranteed Interview Scheme to Cadets in Enterprise graduates.
